It is always interesting to read a book about something you are familiar with. Well, local award-winning novelist and Kanab resident, Liz Adair, has a novella in a Christmas book coming out set in our own backyard of Kanab. “Amy’s Star is a novella about a new star that rises over the red mesas,” Adair says. “The star brings a host of unexpected visitors to the Latham home on Christmas Eve.”
In Adair’s last book, Trouble at the Red Pueblo, her detective protagonist, Spider Latham, hero of three other books in the series, moved from Lincoln County, Nevada, to Kane County, Utah, and thus, her latest novella was born.
Amy’s Star, the new novella, is put together with a short story by Ron Shook to make a small Christmas book, A Kane County Christmas. “I envisioned it as something you could give as a gift to a neighbor, or put under the tree for an uncle,” says Adair. “It’s even got an address tag on the back so you could send it as a Christmas card.”
This book might make your book worm a perfect stocking stuffer. But even better, let them meet the author at her launch party in Kanab! Adair is launching her latest Spider Latham story at the Kanab library meeting room at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 2nd.
Adair will be sharing the party with fellow novelists Kent Douglass and Vickie Hooper who will be launching books of their own. Books by Douglass, Hooper, and Adair will be for sale at the launch. Liz Adair will be awarding home-made apple pies and books as door prizes, and Kent Douglass, a wood carver, will have some of his carvings as door prizes, too.
The book sells for $6 and can be found online at Amazon.com or in Kanab at Canyon Books, Willow Canyon Books, Glazier’s Market, T-time, Red Cat Books or The Herb Basket.
Don’t miss out on a great, and unique local gift idea for your book lover – or a special treat for yourself if you are the book worm.
