If you are a woman, or a man, and you are interested in fighting sexism and expanding women’s rights in our community, there is a place for you at UltraViolet. UltraViolet is part of the national UltraViolet organization which is a new and rapidly growing community of women and men across the U.S. mobilized to fight sexism and expand women’s rights, from politics and government to media and pop culture. UltraViolet works on a range of issues, including health care, economic security, violence, and reproductive rights for women.

The local UltraViolet group will meet on Saturday, December 6, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at Jazzy’s Rock ‘n Roll Grill located at 235 N. Bluff St. St. George. All those interested in working for “equality at a higher frequency” and helping to plan our local event for January 24, 2015 as part of a nationwide UltraViolet event, please attend.

Women and men are working toward equality so all are invited. Many topics will be part of discussion, but one of our goals is to start organizing a community event in January to elevate women’s rights here and nationally, so we will be discussing what we can do at an event in January to engage more people in this conversation

Michelene Perez, an instructor at DSU, sponsored the first meeting in November as part of UltraViolet’s Party with a Purpose initiative. The event was attended by DSU students and others from the community who decided to proceed with the December gathering. Please contact Michelene at 435.862.0642, if you have additional questions.

So if you would like to get involved in the women’s rights movement and have some great ideas to contribute, come out to Jazzy’s for a tasty breakfast and UltraViolet meeting of the minds. See you there!
