Cedar City
For nearly 100 years, Cedar City and Southern Utah have been bucket list destinations for visitors worldwide.

Love Where You Live, Work, and Play

For nearly 100 years, Cedar City and Southern Utah have been bucket list destinations for visitors worldwide. In 1923, the Union Pacific Railroad Company constructed a 25-mile rail spur from Lund, Utah, to Cedar City, as a gateway to Zion National Park. With the increase in national tourism during the automobile era, Zion, the Grand Canyon, and Bryce Canyon National Monument were connected by a 160-mile bus service in 1924.

But for much longer than that, people have loved Cedar City as a destination to grow a business, raise a family, retire, experience special events, and make memories. With millions of visitors traveling worldwide to the Southern Utah region in 2021, a population of nearly 40,000 people calls Cedar City “home” every day.

Bringing people together and hospitality is virtually etched into the ethos of the growing community with an array of festivals and events offered for all ages.

From a Spring Fiesta to Yoga in the Park to a Half Marathon, the community and visitors are encouraged to get involved and connect with one another through shared interests such as music, food, dancing, fitness, and love for Cedar City.

“I love how the community comes together to share a night in small town Cedar City,” stated a Southern Utah University student at the recent Downtown Holiday Lighting Ceremony. “This is my first semester away from home, and it feels so magical to spend a night surrounded by people just trying to enjoy the Christmas spirit.”

The calendar is already filling up with city events loved by local, regional, national, and global audiences, including:

  • Cedar City Star Search Talent Competition – March 3, 2023
  • Spring Fiesta – May 5, 2023
  • Summer Yoga in the Park – June 17, July 15, August 19, and September 16, 2023
  • Moonwalk & 5K Run – July 29, 2023

  1. James with all due respect you simply missed one major area where love, joy and fun come together and WHY Cedar City is a mecca in S. Utah for a certain group of tourists (International & USA) that love a certain offbeat sport. To quote Udisc.com… and I am sure they will not mind.

” Cedar City. Ranked as the 3rd best disc golf destination in Utah, Cedar City has 3 courses. Among these are 3 courses which have 18 or more holes. Cedar City is also home to 2 leagues and 3 stores that sell disc golf”

Disc golf attracts tourists from all over the world and brings people together of all races,, creeds,, and economic backgrounds with a unique camaraderie…. and it can be said perhaps the friendliest sport on the planet these days. Cedar City disc golf lore and history revolves around a guy – nicknamed Crash Daniel who I met once upon a time at Mathis Park almost a decade ago.. I think he got that nickname from going off a cliff on a dirt bike. His dream was to have disc golf in Cedar City. Eventually Three Peaks course opened up and I remember playing it in the first few weeks after it was finished . Oh my , one of the hardest courses in the country, and if one can par this course, like Arthur pulling the sword from the stone, you are at a level of the professional. Was told at the time they brought out a designer from NY to set it up. Regardless I shot 14 over that day. and we found a wandering stray dog spending half an hour to reunite the poor thing with its owner. By the way like ole Crash , and locals in STG such as Scuba Steve, Mook,, etc.. my nickname for over 40+ years in disc golf universe is Gilligan. It is kind of a tradition. Peace out
