From now until the end of May, Lovin’ Arms Pet Center will be holding a pet food drive for pet owners who utilize the Utah Food Bank and soup kitchen. Joyce Vogan, a coordinator for the Utah Food Bank, said that of their more than 100 regulars, more than one-third have pets. Vogan said many of these people are taking dinners home to feed their pets and going without eating themselves. To this end, Lovin’ Arms will be offering various brands of pet foods on sale at their store specifically for donation to the Utah Food Bank. Outside donations are also welcome, but Lovin’ Arms asks that any food donations are healthy brands.
Lovin’ Arms has always been a strong supporter of homeless pets and the organizations that work to help them. Some of the manufacturers of food and products sold in their store help in these endeavors. Even previous to this pet food drive, many Lovin’ Arms customers have already generously offered donations that have been forwarded to those organizations. In light of this new information about how many people feed their pets before themselves, Lovin’ Arms added the Utah Food Bank to their list of recipients of donations of pet food, treats, supplies, and money.
