As The Southern Utah Independent approaches its 29th anniversary in March 2025, we are excited to unveil a series of compelling updates to enhance our readers’ experience and the quality of our content. Founded in 1996 by Josh Warburton, The Independent has been a cornerstone of Southern Utah’s media landscape, consistently delivering news and stories that matter to the community.

We’re Bringing You More Content

The Independent will be celebrating nearly three decades of publishing our monthly print edition in the upcoming March issue. As we enter our 30th year, our team will be working hard to strengthen our focus on arts, recreation, events, entertainment, reasons to celebrate, and outdoor-related content. This goal strives to enhance the readers’ experience by providing more in-depth coverage of the vibrant cultural and recreational activities that Southern Utah has to offer.

When picking up a February copy this month, which can be found at one of over 300 distribution locations throughout Southern Utah, readers will notice a substantial increase in the number of articles dedicated to Utah-related events, entertainment, recreation, and more—nearly tripling our previous count. This expansion reflects The Independent’s commitment to becoming the go-to source for up-to-date information on everything that makes Southern Utah an amazing place to live.

In a strategic move to foster unity and positivity among our readership, The team has decided to retire our political cartoons and opinion-related content. This decision underscores the publication’s dedication to eliminating divisive elements and instead focusing on content that brings the community together. By highlighting the exciting and fun activities available in the region, The Independent seeks to celebrate the world as a place of shared interests and a collective experience.

These changes are part of The Independent’s ongoing evolution to serve our readers better and reflect the dynamic spirit of Southern Utah. As we approach this milestone anniversary, we remain committed to delivering high-quality, engaging, and unifying content that celebrates the community it has proudly served for nearly 30 years.
