M&S Turquoise Kicks Off 30th Annual Shivwits Toy Drive

The owners and staff of M&S Turquoise, led by Jim, Kent, and Bret Sevy, are thrilled to announce the 30th annual Shivwits Toy Drive. This cherished tradition exemplifies the generosity and community spirit of Southern Utah, as local residents and volunteers come together to brighten the holiday season for Southern Paiute children and elders.
Launched in partnership with Glen Rogers and tribal leaders three decades ago, the Shivwits Toy Drive has grown into a beacon of hope for families in the Shivwits Band of Paiutes and beyond. Thanks to the incredible support of the community, this initiative now benefits three additional Southern Paiute bands, ensuring that holiday cheer reaches even more families.
“Every year, we set what seem like impossible goals, but we’re always amazed at how the generosity of this community exceeds our expectations,” said Jim Sevy, co-owner of M&S Turquoise. “It’s a privilege to work alongside such kind and giving individuals.”
The toy drive provides gifts for every child under 18, gift cards for older youth, and hams for tribal elders. It also helps fund Christmas parties for the participating bands. In recent years, surplus funds have even enabled mini-scholarships for Native students at Utah Tech University, as recommended by tribal leaders.
The success of this initiative would not be possible without the M&S Turquoise staff, who volunteer their time to sort, shop, and wrap gifts, as well as the community members who continue to contribute year after year.

Donations of toys, other items, and monetary gifts are welcome at M&S Turquoise, located at 53 E. St. George Blvd. Monetary contributions can also be made by phone at 435-628-0393 or via Venmo at @jamesmsevy.
“Together, we can make the holiday season brighter for the Southern Paiute community,” Sevy added. “Thank you for helping us bring joy to so many families during this special time of year.”
