In springtime, flowers bloom, trees – barren through the dark and cold days of winter – are adorned in lush green; new life comes forth for “All Creatures of Our God and King.” It is also the time the Southern Utah Heritage Choir invites the community to a celebration of renewal, rejuvenation, and hope as they present their annual spring concert this year entitled “No Greater Love!”

The 180-voice choir’s first concert in 2025 will again take advantage of the beautiful acoustics and historic charm of the St. George Tabernacle located on the corner of Main and Tabernacle Streets. This gift to the community will be free of charge on Friday, February 28, at 7 PM and again on Saturday, March 1, at 2 PM.

Under the masterful direction of Dr. Ken Peterson, the choir will present a thoughtfully created program, with each piece a testament to themes of faith, love, and devotion. It will also showcase the choir’s commitment to excellence and its ability to touch hearts. Highlights of the evening include performances by two gifted musicians.

Karen Kennedy, the choir’s organist, will perform “Toccata” from Symphony No. 5 by Charles-Marie Widor. This highly accomplished musician studied at Brigham Young University, where she earned the distinguished honor of Organ Student of the Year. Her skill and artistry give extraordinary depth to the choir’s performances.

Jennifer Redfearn Pianist

Choir pianist Jennifer Redfearn will captivate the audience with a solo rendition of Malagueña by Ernesto Lecuona. A graduate of Dixie State University with dual degrees in Music Education and Piano Performance, Jennifer has over 25 years of experience as a piano instructor and accompanist. Her interpretation of this dynamic and passionate piece will leave her audience with lasting memories.

As with every program performed by this cherished cultural institution, these talented volunteer vocalists will again display their precise vocal blend, dynamic expression, and love of music with new works and heartfelt arrangements. These pieces include “Glorious Everlasting,” “My Jesus, I Love Thee,” “The Eyes of the Heart,” “Ubi Caritas,” “A New Jerusalem Arise,” and other pieces.

Choir President Geri Rhodes shared her excitement, stating, “The quality of our music and artistic excellence has reached new heights. We invite everyone to enjoy the thrill of this rich repertoire.”

The free concert offers an unforgettable experience for the entire community. Bring family and friends to celebrate the joy and inspiration music brings.
