The Plein Air Painters of America will present its 2026 National Exhibition & Sale, titled “Heart of America,” at the historic Maynard Dixon Home & Studio in Mt. Carmel, Utah.
Hosted by the Thunderbird Foundation Gallery, this major exhibition features more than 100 paintings created by over 40 members of the organization. Landscape works from across the United States will be on display, including paintings created in artists’ studios and works completed outdoors on location.
The Patron Preview takes place Friday, May 15, 2026, followed by the Public Opening on Saturday, May 16. During the Public Opening at 12 PM on May 16, many participating artists will also offer field studies created during the week leading up to the show.

Approximately 30 Signature PAPA members are expected to attend opening weekend. Plein Air Painters of America membership is by invitation only and limited to approximately 50 accomplished artists.
In addition to the exhibition and sale, four PAPA Master Instructors will lead a workshop offered by the Scottsdale Artists’ School beginning Monday, May 19. The workshop is open to artists of all levels.

The exhibition remains on view through July 6, 2026.
