Progress Underway: Kane County Hospital Begins Construction on Outpatient Services Expansion
– By Josh Warburton –
Kane County Hospital (KCH) is making exciting progress on its new Outpatient Services Building (OSB), a major expansion that will bring vital healthcare services closer to home for Kane County residents. With dirt work now officially underway, the project marks a key step in improving access to high-quality outpatient care across southern Utah and the surrounding region.
A Vision for Comprehensive Care
The 36,800-square-foot OSB is designed to house a wide range of services in one centralized location, minimizing the need for patients to travel long distances for specialized treatment. Surgical services will be expanded within a 6,000-square-foot area, featuring modern surgical suites to accommodate a broader range of procedures. A 2,000-square-foot physical therapy space will offer rehabilitation and recovery programs to promote mobility and overall wellness. Clinical services, including dialysis, chemotherapy, IV therapy, and other essential treatments, will occupy 13,000 square feet.
An 800-square-foot sleep study center will provide comprehensive evaluations for sleep disorders, supporting the growing demand for this specialized care. Administrative and support services will span 10,000 square feet, streamlining hospital operations to better serve the community. Additionally, a 5,000-square-foot shell space on the third floor is reserved for future growth, giving KCH the flexibility to expand its offerings as local healthcare needs continue to evolve.
Leadership and Vision
Kurt Loveless, CEO of Kane County Hospital, emphasized the long-term value of the project, stating, “This Outpatient Services Building is a vital investment in our community’s healthcare infrastructure. It’s more than a building—it’s a commitment to making essential care accessible right here in Kane County, now and into the future.”
Collaborative Efforts
The expansion is being realized through strong partnerships with industry leaders. Hughes General Contractors, serving as Construction Manager and General Contractor, brings a legacy of quality and innovation to the project. MHTN Architecture, a Utah-based firm with over 95 years of experience, has crafted a design that is both forward-thinking and responsive to community needs.

Community Impact
This expansion will transform the healthcare landscape in Kane County. By offering services like dialysis, chemotherapy, and sleep studies locally, KCH is reducing the travel burden for patients and families. Increased surgical and clinical capabilities will also enhance the hospital’s capacity to respond to emergencies and complex cases. Beyond healthcare, the project is expected to boost the local economy through job creation during both construction and long-term operations.
Looking Ahead
As construction moves forward, Kane County Hospital will continue sharing updates and milestones with the community. The project reflects KCH’s unwavering mission to provide dignified, compassionate care close to home—and this new facility represents a major leap toward building a healthier future for all who call Kane County home.
