Bringing the Music Home
– By Josh Warburton –
I often write these pieces about The Independent, content in the current edition, or maybe just a feel-good article reminding people to “don’t worry, be happy” or something in that vein. This month is a bit different in that I’m going to instead share with you one of the more exciting things happening in my life right now. And that is that I’ve got a new band! You read that right; after only performing solo gigs for the last eight years or so and playing only a gig or two per year the last few years, I’ve put together a group based out here where I live in Kanab with some of the finest players I’ve ever had the joy of connecting with.
How we came together is pretty magical, and I’ve got limited space here, so I’ll steer you toward our social media channels where you can read that, check out our demo recording, and see our poster for the shows. I’m also including the poster as an ad in this edition if you want to cut it out and put it on your fridge. 🙂
And not only can I make that official announcement that we exist, but we’ve got five gigs already booked, all here in southern Utah, so you can come see us play. We’ll debut in Kanab at Adria’s Restaurant, who have just opened a whole new section of their restaurant with a bar and a stage! We’re super excited to be the first band to play there on Feb. 17, during the weekend that Kanab hosts its big annual Balloons and Tunes Roundup. This gig will also feature a “local artist showcase” to open up the show at 7 PM.
Then in March, we’ll have the pleasure of performing in Springdale on back-to-back days. First, on St. Paddy’s day, Mar. 17, at the Bit & Spur Restaurant in their new back area, they’ve built a beautiful stage with a dance floor. We’ll play from 6 to 8 PM, so get there early, have a nice meal, and kick back to the sound of us rocking out some of the greatest songs of the last 50 years and a handful of originals too! We’ll perform at 3 PM the next day behind the Bumbleberry Theater as part of the town’s St. Paddy’s festivities. They’ll be hosting their big parade at noon for the first time since 2019, and we’ll be just one of a handful of bands that will play afterward. It’s free and family-friendly, so come on out!
We’ll travel to St. George in April, where we’ll rock the Blues Katz on Apr. 29 from 8 to 10 PM. We’d love to pack the house, so if you’re in St. George, please make plans to bring your friends out for a-rockin’ good time.
Then a week later, we’ll perform back in Kanab as the kickoff show at the Best Friends Roadhouse stage on May 6 from 6 to 8 PM. Please follow us on Facebook, Insta, and Twitter, and soon TiltedMesa.com will also have all our stuff too. Happy rockin’!

Alright ! Finally some good news as of late ~ (relative to all media fronts in these strange dark days of Winter 2023) ~ If I do not catch you in Kanab at the Balloon fest … will be there at the Blue Katz in late April ! Cool stuff… and Good news for the local music scene. Now if only Wire Elefant and Morning Sexy would make a comeback this year as well it would be an epic trifecta. But hey – great news.
