Quiet Riot and Warrant headline St. George Retrospect RockFest for a good cause
Written by George Scott
The stages are being set for two days, two stages, and twenty bands to present a rock ‘n’ roll festival like no other ever presented in St. George. Not only will dancing be allowed, it will be encouraged. In addition, the promoters have secured a permit for a beer garden. Just a mile away from the heart of St. George’s downtown, Retrospect Rockfest will be blasting on May 8 and May 9 at the old airport overlooking the city. Gates will open at 4 p.m. on Friday, with Quiet Riot headlining that evening, and 11 a.m. on Saturday, with Warrant as the headlining act.
Strong Marketing Group has brought together all of the right ingredients to “bring the noise” to “rockaholics” and make this event a milestone for southern Utah. The caliber of professionalism, sponsors, and planning has helped solidify a three-year commitment with the parties to bring this high-energy packed Rockfest to the community. Future events will be measured by the huge success of this event.
Promoter KJ Strong said, “We are planning on making this an annual event and bringing in lots of great talent. This is the perfect location for this type of event and is currently underutilized. The weather is great, and the community wants these types of events. Too often, I hear people say there is nothing to do. We want to help offer more fun options to do and boost the area as a whole.”
Strong continued, “Retrospect RockFest is a full fledged music festival. It is a family friendly event for all ages and will include many activities in addition to the music.”
Retrospect RockFest will also include an ATV obstacle course for participants to take advantage of trying out a ride that will be thrilling and challenging, a kids area for the little ones to enjoy inflatables, jump houses, slides, and more, and a BBQ Fest running in conjunction with the event which will offer a chance to show off Dutch oven, BBQ, and grilling skills. Registration for participating can be found on the Rockfest website, www.retrorockfestival.com.
Not only is the Retrospect RockFest going to be a spectacular music event, but it also supports a great cause. A portion of sales will go to SwitchPoint Community Resource Center to help eradicate homelessness. In addition, Triple S is donating a Razor to be given away. All the proceeds of donations towards the drawing will go to SwitchPoint.
Those interested in attending are encouraged to pre-purchase tickets online, as ticket prices will be higher at the gate. In addition, RockFest is limiting sales to 2000 participants, and they are nearing that number. Pricing is $40 per day or $60 for the entire 2-day event. A small number of VIP tickets are available for $149.
The Independent has struck a deal to offer a special promotion to our readers. Using the code “Indy” allows rockers to purchase 1 ticket and get the second for half-price. Tickets can be purchased online at http://www.retrorockfestival.com/buy-tickets.html. Be certain to enter code: Indy
