Pairing the word dance with St. George can send the nation into a whirlwind and result in Saturday Night Live skits, national news stories, and an endless number of Footloose referenced jokes. Coupling this word with the City is like a dancer with two left feet stumbling across the floor while trying to present the image of a suave suitor.
What happens when you add words such as swingers, shag, and Red Rock Hotties? Obviously, this combination means you must be talking about the Red Rock Swing Dance group. The group was established to bring social dance, specifically, swing dance, to the community. East Coast, Lindyhop, Charleston, West Coast, Balboa, and lots of other great swing dance styles are represented by members of the group and taught to interested members of the community.
There are many opportunities for any level of dancer, including those that want to learn. Dances are held where those well established in the style are often invited to perform and teach. One of the best ways to get an introduction to the group and learn of what options and resources exist is at the First Saturday Swing Dance. This is a casual, non-pressure event that allows for exposure at all levels. Attend just to gain more information, socialize with others, watch the graceful and smooth ability of those skilled in the dance, take a lesson, or, showcase your skills on the dance floor.
