What draws people to the library? Maybe it’s the endless shelves of books, the quiet study spaces, or the friendly librarians who seem to have a recommendation for everything. Perhaps it’s the free Wi-Fi, creative workshops, or the sheer thrill of discovering something new. Whatever it is, libraries have long been the heartbeat of thriving communities, and there’s no better time to celebrate than during National Library Week, April 6–12, 2025!
This year’s theme, “Drawn to the Library,” highlights the many ways people are inspired, engaged, and connected through their local library. Since 1958, National Library Week has been a time to recognize the vital role libraries play in sparking creativity, fostering lifelong learning, and bringing communities together. The Washington County Library System is rolling out the welcome mat and inviting everyone—whether you’re a longtime bookworm or haven’t stepped inside a library in years—to rediscover all that the library has to offer.
With eight branches across the county, the library is more than just books (though we have plenty of those, too!). Need help launching a business or changing careers? We’ve got resources for that.
