If you’re looking for the ultimate in cinematic cult viewing on the big screen this October, look no further! Megaplex’s Main Street Cinema in St. George proudly presents the highly anticipated return of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show!” And not that you need another reason to see this movie, but if you attend Friday, Oct. 27, you’ll be treated to an added bonus. More on that in a moment.

In 1975’s “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” a newly married couple (played by gorgeous Susan Sarandon and a nutty Barry Bostwick) seek shelter at an isolated castle belonging to one Dr. Frank-N-Furter (played to the unforgettable hilt by a positively charismatic Tim Curry). Once inside the castle, these happy newlyweds find their lives turned upside down as they come face to face with an odd assortment of colorful misfits including Riff Raff (the great Richard O’Brien, who also wrote the musical), Magenta (magnetic Patricia Quinn), Columbia (eccentric Nell Campbell), and rocking biker Eddie (played by a young and vibrant Meat Loaf). This film goes from strange to ape-shit crazy in a matter of minutes, and the entire experience is punctuated by a plethora of quirky but amazingly catchy rock songs.

And just because this is sleepy little St. George, don’t think for a second that this will be some second-rate, rinky-dink, watered-down screening. Nope! Southern Utah does “Rocky Horror” up right! We’re talking dress-up, props galore, and audience participation on an epic scale!

As an added bonus, if you attend “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” screening Oct. 27, you’ll be treated to a free showing of the short film “The Nautilus” at 10 p.m.  This relentlessly quirky musical from writer and director Dan Bringhurst and The Space Between puts a colorfully audacious spin on a Jules Verne classic. In “The Nautilus,” three men (played by Dan Fowlks, Christian Navarrete, and Tysen Bang) lost at sea come face to face with an obsessed submarine captain (played by Sheldon Demke) and his merry crew in what could be best described as “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea” meets “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” therefore, this is sort of the perfect warm up act to the midnight movie to end all midnight movies.

“The Rocky Horror Picture Show” will play at 10:30 p.m. Oct. 27, 28, and 31 at Megaplex’s Main Street Cinema, located at 905 S. Main St. in St. George. And again, those who attend the showing on the 27th,\ will be treated to a free 10 p.m. screening of Dan Bringhurst’s “The Nautilus,” so arrive early. Given that “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” is bound to sell out, you’ll probably want to arrive early anyway.

Tickets to “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” are only $5. You can buy them now by clicking here.
