As a part of St. George’s 2015 Concert in the Park series, Scott Wullkotte, the “Arizona One Man Band,” will play at Vernon Worthen Park on May 11 at 7:30 p.m.

While he may have been born in Cincinnati, Scott Wullkotte grew up in Phoenix. He’s been playing music for over 30 years. He started learning the basics of music in grade school, playing alto saxophone in the school band. He’s self-taught as a guitarist. Although he took up the guitar at the young age of 15, he was already working in bar bands by the time he was 17.

Wullkotte plays new and old country as well as classic rock, citing influences such as Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Carlos Santana, and Chicago. Having traveled with bands all over the country, he now plays music at parties, weddings, night clubs, and special events in Arizona. He was the house entertainment at The Horny Toad restaurant in Cave Creek, Arizona, for 11 seasons.

Wullkotte is currently focusing on becoming a successful songwriter. In 2004, he recorded, produced, and released his first album, “Desert Gold.” It has received radio airplay in over 60 countries. In 2006, he finished recording and producing his second album, “In Our Own Back Yard,” which has also received radio air play and internet downloads in countries all over the world. Paul Davis of “Country Music Roundup” magazine called Wullkotte’s second album “an unpretentious, laid-back, self-penned collection of well-told country story-ditties that converge with grassroots folk-art a la modern, western Americana.”

The Concert in the Park 2015 series is sponsored by the City of St. George with funding from the Utah Division of Arts and Museums, the State of Utah, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
