Happy

Southern Utah Adoptable Pets Guide: HappyAbout this pet: Happy is an 8-year-old male DSH white-and-gray cat. He is a great cat. He’s very sweet. Happy is FIV-positive. It is important to realize that a positive test for FIV is not a mandatory death sentence. With a high-protein diet and aggressive treatment of secondary infections, an FIV-positive cat can live a reasonably normal life span. FIV is not passed to humans. Saliva to blood (biting) is generally accepted as the primary source of spreading the virus, and it is unlikely (but not impossible) that cats will spread FIV to other cats by drinking or eating out of the same food dish or by mutual grooming.

Roddy

Southern Utah Adoptable Pets Guide: RoddyAbout this pet: Roddy was found at a local casino as a stray. He was a little reserved and, to be honest, scared the first week he was here. Now that he knows it’s safe here, he has become more social and loves people and attention. He would be very happy to meet you and come to live with you but will need a lot of exercise and is a little high-energy when he first gets outside. Once outside, he calms down and really soaks up the love and attention he is given. He is very motivated to learn and has mastered the jump and ramp in the exercise yard. He is learning his manners and loves to go on walks. He wants to be with people and will go looking for new friends if left alone. He can jump fences and will need a high fence and someone with him when out in the yard.

Cherish

Southern Utah Adoptable Pets Guide: CherishAbout this pet: Cherish is an adult lady in the prime of her life. At 4 years old, she has the energy level to be a great walking, running, or exercise buddy but is past all that puppy craziness. She is undeniably a sweetheart with a lot of love to give. Everyone who meets her immediately falls in love, and Cherish always reciprocates with a smile and wag of her stubby tail. She is a quick study and loves to work for treats. She has had a bit too many treats and needs to exercise away a few extra pounds. She has mastered some basic commands. She is house-trained and walks nicely on a leash. She has learned to check-in on walks by focusing her attention on the trainer.

Josie

Southern Utah Adoptable Pets Guide: JosieAbout this pet: Josie is super friendly, has a lot of energy, and is really bright. She loves meeting new people, because she’s hoping one of them will take her home. She may act shy at first until she knows you want to play or walk with her, then she is very outgoing and friendly. She loves attention, and you won’t just get a tail wag but a full body wag from this girl. She came to the shelter because she did not get along with one of the dogs in the home but was fine with the other dog.

Belle

Southern Utah Adoptable Pets Guide: BelleAbout this pet: She is a large girl, 5 years old and very friendly. She loves to talk. If you need a sweet and laid-back cat in your life, come visit Belle! She is very loving and loves to be pet or have her chin scratched. She loves people who understand that not every cat is going to be super-outgoing all the time. She might not be the first kitty to scurry over to you when you walk in the room, but she’ll be the one to captivate your heart if you take the time to sit with her. The nice thing about independent cats like Belle is that she won’t constantly pester you for attention. She will be just fine going off and playing with toys without being too needy. Her owner passed away, and she came to the shelter to wait for her new home.

Athena

Southern Utah Adoptable Pets Guide: AthenaAbout this pet: Athena came to the shelter with her brother, Copper, because her family was moving out of state and could not take them along. This sweet, gentle cat gets along with everybody, human and feline alike. She would do best in a home with one or two cats. She patiently waits to be approached and then is very affectionate in her own quiet way. But this lovely cat is lonely and misses having somebody special to love. Athena doesn’t understand why she lost her home! If you’re looking for a mellow cat who will fit right into your home like she’s always been there, please contact the shelter.
