Best Friends Animal Sanctuary
Best Friends Animal Sanctuary is located five miles north of Kanab at 5001 Angel Canyon Road. All adoptable cats and dogs are spayed or neutered and up to date on vaccinations. Lyla
Sure Lyla is a gorgeous girl, but this little lady is so much more than her silky coat and sweet smile. She is an intelligent, joyful, affectionate, and loyal lady who is ready to settle next to you for a cozy night in or head out for a mountain adventure. She loves to use her brain with puzzles and training and learns new games, tricks, or jobs around the house with the ease of a working dog. Though initially shy and one who needs time to adjust to new places and people, once settled in she is a true joy and happily prances with her tug toys, loves playing fetch and rolling in the soft grass. Brandy
Brandy is a young and energetic gal who loves having fun! Just look at her smile! She gets so excited when it’s time to go walking or when a person she loves comes to visit her in her run. It’s best to take time meeting Brandy as she can be a bit unsure about new people. Once she knows you’re her friend, she couldn’t be happier to spend time with you, whether it’s hiking, playing, or snuggling. Brandy would do best in a single-dog household.
Cedar
Cedar is a dream dog. If you see him in his run at the sanctuary you may think he is high energy, over-the-top active. But in reality, out of his run, he is just happy doing whatever his people are doing – he will be happy to hike with you, or nap with you! Cedar knows how to be a good boy with good manners but sometimes needs to be given gentle guidance to truly shine. Luckily he listens well, learns quickly and truly just wants to please his people. Cedar prefers to live alone at the sanctuary and would do best as the only dog in a home. However, Cedar is not dog reactive on leash and even enjoys doggy play dates. Truly a gem in Dogtown, Cedar just wants to love someone and be loved in return!
Schmoolie
Schmoolie is a sweet, confident cat who wants to be your best buddy. He loves people, and he will greet you with cute little meows. He thrives on human affection, and he will do just about anything to get some pets. He would make a wonderful addition to just about any family. Come meet him and see for yourself what a great cat Schmoolie is!
Freya
Freya is completely at ease around others cats, though she’s a little shy with people. Born in 2012, she was rescued as a stray in Nevada. Although we can pet her, she doesn’t seem to enjoy it yet. But she’s a calm and peaceful girl, and she’ll gladly accept treats. Freya is a Caturtle, also known as a shy cat who comes out of its shell in a home.
Mare
If you are looking for the perfect lilac point siamese look no further. Mare is a petite girl who loves laps and attention. Her favorite place to be is in a warm, cozy bed with a few temptations and endless pets. Put in an application and make arrangements to meet this beautiful little girl!
RSQ
RSQ is Southern Utah’s newest nonprofit animal rescue group. It is an all-volunteer group dedicated to saving the lives of animals in underserved, rural areas of Washington County. All of the animals in their care are fully vetted including spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchip, and any medical care they may need. Archie
Archie is a young red heeler/cattle dog. He is very loving and playful and enjoys playing with other dogs and people. He’s a good walker and will need someone to patiently train him. Archie needs an active family as his breed is one that needs play and exercise.
Alexis and Moira
Sisters Alexis and Moira are an adorable mixture of Brittany Spaniel & Corgi. They are playful and are excited at the prospect of going to a loving home. They love to wrestle with each other and play as puppies play. They will need patience and training and will make the most loyal pet(s). Ideally, we would like them adopted together but they can be adopted separately.
Flint
Sweet loving Flint is a hound mix (coon hound/foxhound mix). He is 4–6 months old. Flint is very smart, playful, and likes other dogs & toys. He is a good walker. His kennel is typically clean in the mornings but he will need guidance/training in a new home. We hope Flint will ignite a spark in you to adopt him!
Robyn
Robyn is the smallest and sassiest of the three sisters but Christine and Janelle enjoy her playfulness. These three were lucky to survive after a dog attacked their mother. She bravely protected her babies and she has been nursed back to good health. Her kittens are ready for a safe and loving home. They are bonded and would love to all go home together.

Janelle is the middle sister to Christine and Robyn. These three were lucky to survive after a dog attacked their mother. She bravely protected her babies and she has been nursed back to good health. Christine is the nurturing sister towards Janelle and Robyn. These three were lucky to survive after a dog attacked their mother. Providing Animals With Support (PAWS)
PAWS Adoption Center is now open to the public Tuesday-Saturday 11 AM-3 PM. Located at 1125 W. 1130 N. in St. George. All pets are microchipped, spayed or neutered, and current on vaccinations. Kam
Kam is a male Lab mix about 9-10 months old. He is a great dog who loves to play and hike or run. He will be a great family dog or companion. He is ready to go home so put in an application and make arrangements to meet him today!
Archie
Archie is a great 11-week old puppy who loves to sleep, play, and wrestle with other puppies. He is a Terrier mix and will be such a wonderful pet. He is very smart and would do well in any home with or without other pets. He is dewormed, vaccinated to date, and microchipped. We will have him neutered when he is old enough. He is waiting for you at PAWS Adoption Center so come meet him soon!
Evie
Evie is a 1 1/2 yr old Aussie Shepherd Mix who is such a great girl. This doll loves walks, hikes, playing, kids, and other dogs. She’s perfect! She will thrive in a home with another dog she can play with, a home with a yard where she can run and roll. She loves her humans unconditionally. She is well-mannered in the home and knows her commands. She walks great on a leash, is potty trained and best of all she’s snuggly. She plays fetch like a pro, loves her toys, and shares.
Jovi
Jovi is a rock star! He is a 1-year-old neutered male who loves to play hard, sleep even harder, and will love you with all his being. He likes other cats and makes friends very easily. His adoption fee is waived until the end of September. Come in and meet this great guy!
Franny
Franny is a 3-year-old female, Tabby & white. She gets along with other cats or would be fine as an only cat. She is playful and cuddly. Give her a sunny spot, and she’ll be happy as a clam. Make arrangements to meet this beautiful cat today!
Magnum
Magnum is a gorgeous 7-year-old hunk of love. This big boy is one stunning cat. He is social, loving, so easy on the eyes. He gets along with other cats and will be a great family or companion cat. He would also be fine as an only cat. Come into PAWS so you can meet this green-eyed handsome guy.

Appointments will be made for you to visit an animal you are interested in adopting. All animals will be spayed or neutered prior to leaving shelter and receive 1-year rabies vaccination and city license. Ages are approximate.
Flash
This young boy is only 6 months old. He is loving, playful, active, and very affectionate. Flash is going through his puppy phase so he will do best in a home that will be able to work with him. He does well walking on a leash. He enjoys toys. Just look at those eyes!! This boy is going to make a family very happy!! His adoption fee is $60.
Quasi
Quasi had a home but his people could not care for him. He is 5 years old and is a large gentleman. He is quiet and independent. He is no problem and would make a good companion to sit with you while you read and watch TV. He likes to be petted. His adoption fee is $40.
Poe
Poe is a beautiful black kitten approximately 3 months old. There is not a toy he doesn’t like. He is with his sister Raven, it is not necessary but it would be wonderful if they could be adopted together. His adoption fee is $40.

Because Animals Matter
Because Animals Matter is dedicated to reducing animal abuse and neglect through education. It offers fully vaccinated, spayed or neutered, and microchipped animals for adoption through a network of foster homes and the Because Animals Matter Center, a transition facility. It also welcomes volunteers for a variety of activities and needs foster families for animals awaiting their forever homes. Phoenix
Two-year-old Phoenix really wants to be someone’s special little buddy but he needs to be an only child. As cute as he is, he can be somewhat unpredictable and become snappy when there’s too much excitement. He’s housebroken, neutered, crate trained, up to date on his vaccinations, and microchipped. He was transferred to BAM from another shelter that had him shaved to remove mats, sticks, burs, and foxtails from his coat. Poor little guy — no wonder he’s nippy. He appears to have been fending for himself for quite some time.
He will require grooming for the rest of his life so you will want to speak with your vet about sedation before haircuts. Your vet will appreciate Phoenix being muzzled when he goes for visits. Fortunately, he doesn’t mind having you put a muzzle on him. He’s REALLY looking forward to being adopted by someone in a calm environment who will never neglect him again.
Phoenix likes to play with toys and snuggle with his person and will make a great companion for that special someone who is willing to work with his quirks.
Rusty
Rusty is a beautiful, mellow two-year-old boy in need of a new family. He never makes a peep in his kennel. He’s neutered, housebroken, microchipped, and current on his vaccinations. In short, he’s move-in ready! And we all think he’s awesome!
His last dad said he’s vicious with other dogs but, so far, he’s getting along with all of our BAM dogs…even the puppies. Rusty was a BAM boy before, adopted in April. He put on a LOT of weight in that short time and will need an adopter who will help him get back to the healthy weight he was before.
Cassia
Cassia (pronounced ka-shee-uh) is a cinnamon spice that fits her coloring and personality. She is adventurous and brave and, most of all, determined! Even for being so little, she still looks at two flights of stairs as a challenge and she’s growing to love the doggie pool. She plays hard, then gives a sweet look saying she’s ready to curl up on your chest and fall asleep. She loves to be snuggled.
Cassia is a puppy and loves to chew. Be prepared to keep toys and turkey tendons around if you value your shoes!
Cassia is available LOCALLY ONLY as a foster to adopt. Once she has been spayed, the adoption will be completed and she’ll be all yours! Meanwhile, we’re already accepting applications.
Stella
For pitties sake! Really–no interest in this beautiful girl? How can that be? Stella is a wonderful, kind girl looking for love. At five to six years, she had very likely never experienced it before coming to BAM and every day she shows us her gratitude and affection. She’s finally figured out that people want to love her…and we all do! Stella e is so ready to start a new chapter in her life now with nothing but love in store.
Stella was so gentle when she played with her puppies but now they’ve all gone to their forever homes leaving her alone and lonely. She really wants someone to hold her close and play tug with her.
Gentle as she is, she had occasionally acted very protective of her puppies when other dogs or kids were nearby. For that reason, she may do best as a solo dog with no kids (or maybe ok with older, respectful kids), and, we assume, no cats.
Mikko
“Mikko” (pronounced Mick O), Hebrew for God, is a lovely gentleman who enjoys short walks and hanging out with other dogs, especially little ones. He’s an absolute lover boy and bonds quickly with everyone
Mikko will be having a mass removed from his leg soon and will be available for adoption once it’s done. He’s neutered, microchipped, housebroken, up-to-date on his vaccinations, and ready to move to his new forever home.
Titan and Keeva
Meet this bonded pair: Titan (95 lb Male, 6 yrs) and Keeva (60 lb Female, 5 yrs). Keeva was 8 wks old when she met her big brother and they are tightly bonded. They were their mom and dad’s only children and did everything together: mountain camping, hiking, car rides, playing in streams, strolling the neighborhood. They are primarily house pets but obviously love being active in the outdoors and using their doggy door to explore the yard.
The family has now expanded with an infant and a toddler. Managing two full-time jobs and the babies has added stress and put a strain on the time and care mom and dad can spend with them. The dogs feel the difference and are longing for their pre-baby life back. Mom and Dad’s hearts are broken but feel it is only fair to find the perfect, active family for these two to get their show back on the road.
With the proper introduction, they are good with children and all animals, including cats. If children, 10 or older would be preferable so these dogs can get the attention they need. Huskies need to be part of the pack. They are not happy to be an outdoor pet that is not part of the family. With a little daily exercise and a home of their own, they make absolutely wonderful pets.
