Basil
Basil loves life and would love to share lots of adventures with you! Although he’s already a big dog, he’s still just a puppy and in the fun teenage phase where he’s still learning his size and how he fits into the world. He loves to pick up sticks on his walk to show off, hoping that they just might be the toy he’s been searching for. Once he’s used up his energy adventuring and playing, this sweet boy loves to take some treats and get a good snuggle. He loves his doggy run mate at the sanctuary, although would prefer a home with no cats. He’s working on all his basic manners so he can grow up to be the best dog in the world. Basil would love to meet you and be your new adventure partner.
Clara
Clara was rescued in Houston after Hurricane Harvey and came to Best Friends in Texas. Here at the Sanctuary, she is gaining confidence daily and is making great progress in learning to trust people. She enjoys going on walks, especially if her doggie roommate comes along. She has learned that making eye contact with Dogtown volunteers means that she gets treats, so during most of her walks she will look up at you eager for treats. Clara still doesn’t enjoy too much petting, but she will touch her nose to people’s hands. At Dogtown, she has learned that having more dog friends is a good thing, and she does great with introductions to other dogs. She enjoys their company and really comes out of her shell with a confident canine friend around. She would do best in a home with another dog who can be a role model for her, but she cannot live with cats. Because she is still shy and fearful with people and can jump fences, she is considered a flight risk. Clara will need to find a home with a person or family who can keep her secure and keep helping her build her confidence. Born in 2015, she has a lot of potential to grow and blossom.
Inky
Inky is extremely loving and loyal with people. She loves to sit with you and get lots of petting and attention. She always wants to be around people and is happy to be doing whatever you are doing. In the car, Inky will relax and enjoy the ride, and on a leash she walks nicely. Inky was born in 2013 and came to Best Friends from a shelter in Louisiana. She has some medical challenges, including heartworm, for which she is being treated at the Sanctuary. Inky is healing and is ready to experience a home of her own. She has a real zest for life and will be a fun and loving companion.
Forge
Inquisitive, sweet, muscular, and a little chatty; Forge is a confident dude. This handsome white shorthair (with a bit of distinguished grey) knows what he wants. He wants to roam around your home and find all the cool places to nap, lookout, and ask for pets. He also wants a family of his own. He definitely prefers human company over that of other cats, but has gotten along with his roommates in Catworld okay; he just first sends out a crystal clear message of “don’t mess with me.” His message to you, however, is “please take me home.”
Marx
Marx will capture your heart as he lovingly lays on your lap and gazes lovingly with his expressive eyes in your eyes. His large paws and chubby cheeks add to the charm of this shy little guy. He is a quiet boy who longs for a person who will love him with all their heart. He is FeLv+ and is 5 years old.
Rico
Rico will greet you at the door. He will fall down at your feet and rub on your shoes until you have no choice but to bend down and pet him. He has chubby cheeks that just call out to be squeezed. Rico is a charmer in every sense of the word. He loves stroller rides and has the best disposition. Rico is FeLv+.
RSQ Dogs+
Seven is one of three remaining boxer puppies out of a litter of eight, all who contracted parvo. He is the biggest of the three, fortunately, suffering few effects of the virus. He is spunky, funny, and looking for a forever family who will teach him manners and provide an active lifestyle so necessary for the boxer breed.
Sebastian
Sebastian is one of three puppies who survived out of a litter of eight. All had contracted the parvo virus. He was the weakest of the three and very skinny. With time and lots of love from a dedicated care team, he is now active and funny. He still loves his snuggles though. He is looking for a forever family who will teach him manners and provide an active lifestyle so necessary for the boxer breed.
Oakland
Oakland and her three adorable puppies came to RSQ Dogs a couple of months ago. She is happy, friendly and hound-like in every way. If you love those big floppy ears and that unforgettable whoo-whoo, she is the dog for you. She is currently with a foster family and is thriving in the home environment, but still needs to find her forever home.
Cadbury
Cadbury is a beautiful kitten that his looking for his forever home. He came to RSQ Dogs with his mother and siblings. He has beautiful eyes! He was born on May 10, 2019. He is very lovable and patiently waiting for his forever home.
Davidson
Davidson is a stunning long hair guy. He could really use a good grooming to show off his gorgeous black mane but even without it, he is a looker. He is middle age and a really mellow cat.

Ringo
Ringo is your typical sweet, mischievous, 10-week old puppy. He’s smart, fun, loves to play. He will get into things he shouldn’t but will grow up with the proper education to be a fantastic dog. Ringo might need a refresher when he moves into a home but he does know how to use the doggy door at That BAM Place. Ringo is looking for a foster-to-adopt home with the adoption finalizing when he is neutered. He will only be placed locally in order to assure he keeps his neuter appointment. His adoption fee is $150. To find out more about Ringo, contact by text or phone, Julie at (435) 773-5209.
Ruby
This is one darling little Beagle. If you love Beagles, you’ll love Ruby. Still such a sweet girl … even after her trauma. She was injured when she fell from a car (Ruby should always be seat belted!) when she stood up to look out the window and rolled down the automatic window. Her belly and paws were horribly burned when she skidded along the pavement. She’s been in foster care recovering for a while but is looking for a family now. She does still need to have her paws seen by the vet and wrapped for a while longer. For that reason, she’s looking for a foster-to -adopt family. In other words, the family will be a foster family until her final vet check and then will become her adoptive family. To find out more about Ruby, text or call Julie at (435) 773-5209. Ruby’s adoption fee is $125.
Abbey
Abbey joined the BAM family with her own family in tow — see our foster-to-adopt boys Paul and Ringo — but is now ready to put that life behind her. This looker is also a smarty pants. Abbey will roll over like it’s a party trick: she’s so excited to show it off and get praise or a treat in return. Abbey is also house-trained and knows to “kennel up” at BAM’s adoption center when it’s time for the volunteers to leave. She enjoys spending time with other dogs but she’s a big strong girl so they would want to introduce your dog(s) to her before finalizing an adoption to best ensure success. Abbey loves to play fetch and enjoys chew bones and toys in general — you just have to make sure she doesn’t destroy them unless that’s allowed. If you’re looking to add an eager-to-please, smart and fun-loving dog to your life please call or text Julie at (435) 773-5209 to arrange to meet Abbey. Her adoption fee is $125.
Rocky
Rocky is a handsome young dog, dark gray in color and approximately 3 years old. He’s very sweet and loving, and there is no place he’d rather be than in your lap. Although a bit cautious at first, he warms up quickly. He would be okay with older, respectful children but no toddlers, please. Rocky would do best in a home with another dog as he does have some separation anxiety. He knows some basic commands and enjoys trips to the dog park. He walks well on a leash and enjoys car rides. Rocky’s adoption fee is $125. To make an appointment to meet him, contact Phyllis at (435) 705-9227.
Harley
Harley is a sweet, loving, loyal young dog who gets along well with other dogs. He’s a “tweener” meaning he’s between a little dog and big dog and is the perfect size. He is good with older children but how he handles young children is unknown since they have none with whom to test him. BAM believes he would be fine with a child of any age as long as the child is respectful. He is housebroken using a doggy door, crate trained and likes to go for car rides. He still has that puppy energy and his worst habit seems to be jumping when he’s overly excited. His adoption fee is $125. To set a time to meet Harley please text or call Julie at (435) 773-5209.
Princess
Princess could have easily been named after an Egyptian pharaoh with her striking “eyeliner.” This young adult has a lot of life ahead of her and would love to find someone interested in continuing the basic obedience training she’s learning in foster care (she already knows “sit” and has mastered puppy dog eyes). She is a solid girl but not too tall and is as affectionate as she is smiley! Princess enjoys being around her people and will do best in a home without small children. Having another dog as a companion and playmate could be ideal. They aren’t completely sure what breed blend Princess is but did learn in their adoption center that she’s a skilled jumper though she hasn’t displayed the same when around baby gates in her foster home. Given her abilities, a person or family looking for a walking/hiking companion or with a tall-fenced yard for her to be outside off-leash would be best. Knowledge or experience with strong breeds would be a bonus for Princess. Contact Alison by text at (541) 936-1766 (or leave a voicemail for a call back) or email admin@becauseanimalsmatter.com if you would like to learn more or to schedule a meet and greet for you (and your dog).
