Michael Plyler special exhibit
“Zion Canyon: A Storied Land” is an exhibit by photographer Michael Plyler that highlights the beauty of our neighboring Zion National Park. This special exhibit is being presented to celebrate the National Park Service centennial. Regular admission fees apply. This exhibit will be on display daily through Oct. 31. at Frontier Homestead State Park.
“Go Out & Play” exhibit
“Go Out & Play” is an exhibit of many local and original artists from the southern Utah area. The event features Karen March, Professor McGarren, Jodi Fuller, Dan Whalen, Dan Lewis, Fiona Phillips, Julie Rogers, Larry Winborg, Jeremy Winborg, and Kirk Parkinson. The exhibit aims to inspire a sense of wonder, creativity, and natural curiosity. This free exhibit shows 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily until Nov. 11. “Snapshot 1880–2016: Artist’s Work! The Role of Art in Zion National Park”
The Silver Reef Museum and Zion History Association present this collaborative exhibit that features local visual artists Roland Lee and Royden Card. It is a unique art exhibit that explores the role of art in Zion National Park. It will explore the ways in which artists have promoted Zion National Park visually to a worldwide audience, beginning with the World’s Fair in 1903 in St. Louis and ending with the Zion National Park’s plein air event Nov. 7–13. “A Long and Winding Road” art exhibit

The Utah Shakespeare Festival presents “Murder For Two”
Everybody is a suspect in this hilarious musical murder-mystery with a twist. In “Murder for Two,” one actor investigates the crime. The other plays all the suspects. And they both play the piano! Don’t miss the fun at this play in Cedar City at the Eileen and Allen Anes Studio Theatre Thursday at 2 p.m., and Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. This show will run through Oct. 22. Arte First Annual Art Auction Fundraiser
The Arte Gallery and the Children’s Justice Center have created this wonderful fundraising auction event to help the children of Washington County. The auctioneer for the evening will be Ted Cucuro. Refreshments will be served. It will be is a semi-formal event, so please dress accordingly. The auction will begin on Thursday at 6 p.m. at Arte Art Gallery and tickets are $20. The Utah Shakespeare Festival presents “Julius Caesar”

Stage Door Theater presents “The Addams Family”
“The Addams Family” the musical is presented Thursdays–Saturdays, Oct. 13–31, at 7:30 p.m. by The Stage Door Theater. This is a fun musical comedy for the whole family that will wrap up on Oct. 31 with a Halloween Spooktacular, a fun halloween event that will include a costume contest, prizes, treats, and a special encore performance of “The Addams Family.” For more information, contact The Stage Door Theater. Gregg Peterson Band at the Skydome Lounge

What Women Want Expo

Wicked Music Festival
On Friday at 6 p.m., the Shivwits Paiute Indian Reservation Festival Grounds in Ivins hosts the Wicked Music Festival, an all-night rager with live bands and a bonfire. Goodbye Nova record release party
There will be a record release party for Goodbye Nova at Groovacious in Cedar City, Friday at 6 p.m. Come to Groovacious Records to celebrate the new release from Goodbye Nova’s “Just A Little Weather.” The evening will feature live acoustic performances and free food. Groovacious is committed to continuing the traditions established since 1992 of hosting live music and promoting local and regional talent.
“Adrenaline24”: 24 HR Film Contest
On Friday at 7 p.m., the Red Rock Film Festival will host a film contest beginning with registration on top of the parking garage of the Heritage Center. Registration for each team is $20. Downtown Farmer’s Market at Ancestor Square
One of the favorite Southern Utah Weekend Events, the Downtown Farmer’s Market, is open every Saturday at 8 a.m. to noon in Ancestor Square at 2 W. St. George Blvd. and will run through Oct. 29. The market features live music and an array of vendors. The Downtown Farmer’s Market is a nonprofit project dedicated to promoting the downtown area as well as organic gardening, homemade arts and crafts, and other goods.
