Hey Southern Utah! Summer is winding down, and we are getting close to Back-to-School. Check out what’s going on this weekend and have some fun before school starts. The Utah Shakespeare Festival and the Neil Simon Festival in Cedar City are still offering an amazing selection of plays! This weekend is full of fun for everyone: music, movies, live performances, and great food! Every week, we will let you know what is happening around Southern Utah! Historic St. George Live
Every Friday and Saturday at 10 a.m., watch historical figures come alive and describe what Southern Utah living was like at the turn of the century. This is fun for the whole family. Bring the kids to the St. George Art Museum to check it out. The cost is $3 per person, and children under 11 get in for free. For more information, call the City of St. George at (435) 627-4525.
Neil Simon Festival presents “London Suite”
“London Suite” is a comic Neil Simon play about a drunk Welsh writer holding his business manager at gunpoint. Don’t miss the fun at this PG-13 play in Cedar City at the Heritage Center Theater on Thursday at 2 p.m and Saturday at 8 p.m. Ticket prices vary from $21 to $26. The Utah Shakespeare Festival presents “Mary Poppins”
The beloved “Mary Poppins” is being brought to the stage, courtesy of the 2016 Utah Shakespeare Festival. Bring the family to this G-rated show in Cedar City at the Randall L. Jones Theater. This is definitely a not-to-be-missed play. Showtime is Thursday at 2 p.m., Friday at 8 p.m., and Saturday at 2 p.m. Enjoy a night out! Brigham’s Playhouse presents “Joseph Smith: Praise to the Man”

The Utah Shakespeare Festival presents Murder For Two
Everyone is a suspect in this hilarious musical murder mystery with a twist. In Murder for Two, one actor investigates the crime. The other plays all the suspects. And they both play the piano! Don’t miss the fun at this play in Cedar City at the Eileen and Allen Anes Studio Theatre on Thursday at 8 p.m and Saturday at 2 p.m. This show will run through October 22. Neil Simon Festival presents “On Golden Pond”
The Heritage Center Theater in Cedar City hosts the Neil Simon Festival’s production of “On Golden Pond.” Come watch this sweet story of a couple’s 48th year of marriage on Thursday at 8 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m. Tickets range from $21 to $26. More information can be found at SimonFest.org.

Tuacahn presents “Tarzan”
Tuacahn Amphitheater brings an unforgettable experience to the stage in Disney’s timeless adventure, “Tarzan.” This musical will show Thursday through Saturday at 8:30 p.m. until Oct. 12. This is the perfect family adventure for kids and adults. Ticket prices vary from $29 to $79 and can be purchased at the Tuacahn website.
Textures Of Life Exhibit
From a babe’s first soft and comforting swaddling, to rough and tough yarns, and fine linens, the textures of woven threads give our life tactile information and memories. The fiber crafts are a great community of artists who keep looms producing this beautiful and functional artform. Hank Williams: Lost Highway
A musical biography presented by the Neil Simon Festival in Cedar City of the talented Hank Williams. This show is rated PG and has received high praise from Rolling Stone, The New York Times, and the New York Post. The show starts at 2 p.m. on Friday. Ticket prices range from $21 to $26. The Utah Shakespeare Festival presents “Julius Caesar”
Julius Caesar is a fantastic display of political and governmental power. This production is set in modern Italy, which gives the themes a contemporary edge. However, Shakespeare’s language will not be updated. There is some violence in the play, it is best suited for an age appropriate group that can understand the play. Brigham’s Playhouse presents “Ramona Quimby”

The Comedy Machine at Casablanca Resort
The Comedy Machine is back at the Casablanca Resort for a night of laughs, drinks, and fun. Come down on Friday at 8:30 p.m. and join us. This is a 21 and older show. Bring your I.D.’s. Downtown Farmer’s Market at Ancestor Square
One of the favorite Southern Utah Weekend Events, the Downtown Farmer’s Market, is open every Saturday at 8 a.m. to noon in Ancestor Square at 2 W. St. George Blvd. and will run through Oct. 29. The market features live music and an array of vendors. The Downtown Farmer’s Market is a nonprofit project dedicated to promoting the downtown area as well as organic gardening, homemade arts and crafts, and other goods. The market accepts the Horizon Card and participates in “Double Up Bucks” offered through a grant from Utahns Against Hunger. Come to the market and shop for farm-fresh produce with your Horizon Card and Double Up Bucks will match what you spend up to $10 each Saturday.
Year-Round Farmer’s Market in Cedar City
Visit the only Year-Round Farmer’s Market in Utah; a real farmers market that sells only locally produced and grown fruit, vegetables, jam, bread, and other farm products. Zion Canyon Farmers Market
The ZCFM is located on the lawn of the Bit N Spur Restaurant located at 1212 Zion Park Blvd, Springdale, Utah. The market is open from 9:00 am to Noon on Saturday until October 15. Bowling For P.A.W.S
This fundraiser event is led by Tom Garrison, a local hiking enthusiast, PAWS volunteer, and bowler. Meet on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. for registration at the Sunset West Bowling Center. Your donation includes three games of bowling. You must bring or rent bowling shoes for $1.75. A recommended donation for adult bowlers is $15 and $10 for pre-adults.
Luau Beach Party
Make a splash at the Summer Of Fun Family Events! This is a monthly series of evening pool parties and foam dances at the Washington County Rec Center. This event starts Saturday at 4 p.m. Many of the pre-sale discount tickets will expire before August 6 so get them ASAP! Get your tickets online and get a discount! Children under 3 are $1, which you can pay for at the door. A pre-sale meal packages include a dinner from Sonny Boy’s BBQ. (Pulled pork sandwich, side dish, drink). Get ready for a splashing good time!
Lisa Mac at Zion Canyon Brew Pub
