Michael Plyler special exhibit
“Zion Canyon: A Storied Land” is an exhibit by photographer Michael Plyler that highlights the beauty of our neighboring Zion National Park. This special exhibit is being presented to celebrate the National Park Service centennial. Regular admission fees apply. This exhibit will be on display daily through Oct. 31. at Frontier Homestead State Park.
“Go Out & Play” exhibit
“Go Out & Play” is an exhibit of many local and original artists from the southern Utah area. The event features Karen March, Professor McGarren, Jodi Fuller, Dan Whalen, Dan Lewis, Fiona Phillips, Julie Rogers, Larry Winborg, Jeremy Winborg, and Kirk Parkinson. The exhibit aims to inspire a sense of wonder, creativity, and natural curiosity. This free exhibit shows 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily until Nov. 11. “Snapshot 1880–2016: Artist’s Work! The Role of Art in Zion National Park”
The Silver Reef Museum and Zion History Association present this collaborative exhibit that features local visual artists Roland Lee and Royden Card. It is a unique art exhibit that explores the role of art in Zion National Park. It will explore the ways in which artists have promoted Zion National Park visually to a worldwide audience, beginning with the World’s Fair in 1903 in St. Louis and ending with the Zion National Park’s plein air event Nov. 7–13. “A Long and Winding Road” art exhibit
The Canyon Community Center Gallery will display Kristine Eberhard’s exhibit through Nov. 14. For more information, go to Z-Arts: Zion Arts and Humanities Council.
Shreeek-reeka
A haunted house, trick or treat stations, and carnival games for kids of all ages will be happening at the Eureka Casino in Mesquite on Thursday at 5 p.m. There will be a live D.J. performing until 8:30 p.m. Admission is free. Brigham’s Playhouse presents “Oklahoma”
Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Oklahoma” is brought to the stage thanks to Brigham’s Playhouse. Performance times are Thursdays–Saturdays at 7 p.m. and Saturdays at 2 p.m. through Nov. 22. Ticket prices are $23 for adults, $21 for seniors, and $17 for children 5–17 and students (with valid I.D.) and can be purchased at Brigham’s Playhouse. Children under 5 are not permitted. Stage Door Theater presents “The Addams Family”
“The Addams Family” the musical is presented Thursdays–Saturdays, Oct. 13–31, at 7:30 p.m. by The Stage Door Theater. This is a fun musical comedy for the whole family that will wrap up on Oct. 31 with a Halloween Spooktacular, a fun halloween event that will include a costume contest, prizes, treats, and a special encore performance of “The Addams Family.” For more information, contact The Stage Door Theater. Family Roots Expo
The Family Roots Expo is a two-day expo that will begin Friday at 9 a.m. at the Dixie Convention Center. The event is dedicated to exploring new innovations and techniques in family history. There are more than 70 classes from beginner to expert level, four keynote speakers, an expo hall, and entertainment. Alex Boye will perform on Saturday. Ticket prices vary. Tickets and information can be found online. Sponsorship and exhibitor space is still available.
Brian Hoover’s “Old and New” exhibit
Brian Hoover, a southern Utah artist, will be featured at Art Works Gallery on Friday at Art Works in Cedar City. The gallery will open at 5 p.m. Admission is free.
Soul What!? live at George’s Corner Restaurant
Soul What!? will perform funk, soul, and R&B music at George’s Corner Restaurant Friday at 8 p.m. This is a free event. For a complete line-up, visit George’s Corner Calendar.
DJ Spinz at The One and Only

Halloween Weekend Party at Mike’s Tavern
On Friday from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., DJ Johnny Utah will host a Halloween party at Mike’s Tavern in Cedar City. There will be a cash prize of $250 for the best costume. There will be tons of prizes, free beer pong tables, free arcade games, and no cover charge. Grab your friends and head to Mike’s Tavern in Cedar City for a fun night out.
Hurricane Valley Theatrical Company presents “Aida”
Hurricane Valley Theatrical Company is thrilled to present Elton John and Tim Rice’s “Aida.” This family-friendly production will show Oct. 7–29 on Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 7 p.m. with Saturday matinees at 2 p.m. For more information, contact the Hurricane Valley Theatrical Company. Silver Reef Ghost Nights
Fall Series Race: Suzuki Contingency for Entire Series
This is a 2 Moto format with practice starting at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday. The race will follow. This is a 4-part series and the gate fee is $10. It is $35 for first Class, and $25 for Second Class. Downtown Farmer’s Market at Ancestor Square
One of the favorite Southern Utah Weekend Events, the Downtown Farmer’s Market, is open every Saturday at 8 a.m. to noon in Ancestor Square at 2 W. St. George Blvd. and will run through Oct. 29. The market features live music and an array of vendors. The Downtown Farmer’s Market is a nonprofit project dedicated to promoting the downtown area as well as organic gardening, homemade arts and crafts, and other goods. Year-Round Farmer’s Market in Cedar City
Visit the only Year-Round Farmer’s Market in Utah, a real farmers market that sells only locally produced and grown fruit, vegetables, jam, bread, and other farm products. Zion Canyon Farmers Market
The Zion Canyon Farmers Market is one of the southern Utah weekend events you don’t want to miss! It is located on the lawn of the Bit and Spur Restaurant in Springdale. The Gentlemen Trio is comprised of Brad Robins, Casey Elliott, and Bradley Quinn Lever. Pioneering a signature sound that can only be described as “cinematic pop,” the music of Gentri is transfused with lush, epic orchestrations and rich, dynamic three-part harmonies. Dio Rising at Mike’s Tavern
Dio Rising will perform Saturday at 10 p.m. Dio Rising is Las Vegas’ premiere tribute to the life and music of Ronnie James Dio. Tickets are usually $25 for this show, but Mike’s Tavern has them for only $5. Tickets are available online.
