Michael Plyler Special Exhibit
“Zion Canyon: A Storied Land” is an exhibit by photographer Michael Plyler that highlights the beauty of our neighboring Zion National Park. This special exhibit is being presented to celebrate the National Park Service centennial. Regular admission fees apply. This exhibit will be on display daily through Oct. 31. at Frontier Homestead State Park.
The Utah Shakespeare Festival presents “Julius Caesar”
The Utah Shakespeare Festival presents “Julius Caesar” at the Anes Studio Theatre in Cedar City. This classic drama plays Thursday at 2 p.m and Saturday at 4:30 p.m. For more showtimes and ticket information, visit bard.org.
Brigham’s Playhouse presents “110 In The Shade”
“110 In The Shade” is a musical adaptation of the play “The Rainmaker.” This fantastic musical will show Thursday and Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. through Sept. 17. Ticket prices range from $17 to $23. For showtime and ticket information, go to Brigham’s Playhouse online.
Art Insights: Geoffrey Johnson
Art Insights is hosted SUU’s Art and Design faculty. Students and community members can meet to experience presentations and discussions by visiting artists and art educators from around the nation who share their work and insights. Admission is free and open to the public. Geoffrey Johnson is a contemporary impressionist painter and is represented by Principle Gallery in Alexandria, Virginia. This event will be held at the Southern Utah Art Museum in Cedar City on Thursday at 7 p.m. There will also be an Artist’s Talk by Kevin Kehoe on Saturday at 1 p.m.
“OLEANNA” by David Mamet
Kayenta Arts Foundation is pleased to present David Mamet’s examination of political correctness, academic politics, and sexual harassment, “Oleanna”. This event will be presented in the intimate setting of Kayenta’s Room for Thought located in the Kayenta Art Village. The Utah Shakespeare Festival presents “Much Ado About Nothing”
This is a classic romantic comedy with two of Shakespeare’s most beloved characters, Beatrice and Benedick, who battle it out in a contest of wits — until they land in each others’ arms. Don’t miss the fun at this play in Cedar City at The Engelstad Shakespeare Theatre Thursday at 8 p.m. This show will run through Sept. 8. Tickets can be purchased at bard.org
Tuacahn presents “The Hunchback of Notre Dame”
Come see the Tuacahn amphitheatre transformed into 15th century Paris and follow Quasimodo on his adventure. Parental discretion is advised as “The Hunchback Of Notre Dame” portrays mature themes. This play will show Thursday at 8 p.m. Check out Tuacahn.org for showtimes and ticket purchases.
Tuacahn presents “Tarzan”
Tuacahn Amphitheater brings an unforgettable experience to the stage in Disney’s timeless adventure, “Tarzan.” This musical will show Thursdays through Saturdays at 8:30 p.m. through Oct. 12. This is the perfect family adventure for kids and adults. Ticket prices vary from $29 to $79 and can be purchased at the Tuacahn website.
St. George Musical Theater presents “Into The Woods”
“Into The Woods” brings your favorite stories together in this rare and enchanting musical. The story follows a baker and his wife who wish to have two children: Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King’s festival, and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a witch’s curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse. Everyone’s wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later with disastrous results. This is an exciting tale for the whole family. “Go Out & Play” Exhibit
“Go Out & Play” is an exhibit of many local and original artist’s from the Southern Utah area. The event features: Karen March, Professor McGarren, Jodi Fuller, Dan Whalen, Dan Lewis, Fiona Phillips, Julie Rogers, Larry Winborg, Jeremy Winborg, and Kirk Parkinson. “Collectively, the art depicted reflects a changing world and how play seems to be trivialized.” The exhibit hopes to inspire a sense of wonder, creativity, and natural curiosity. This free event will begin Friday at 9 a.m. at the DSU’s Eccles Fine Arts Center with a reception to follow at 7 p.m. Refreshments will be served. The Utah Shakespeare Festival presents “Murder For Two”
Every one is a suspect in this hilarious musical murder-mystery with a twist. In “Murder for Two,” one actor investigates the crime. The other plays all the suspects. And they both play the piano! Don’t miss the fun at this play in Cedar City at the Eileen and Allen Anes Studio Theatre Friday from 2-4 p.m. This show will run through Oct. 22. Tickets can be purchased at Bard.org
“Many Miles” – Album Release Party
Come out for a killer show for the release of “Many Miles” first album. There will be C.D.’s, T-shirts, stickers, and trucker hats for sale at a special release party price. Bring your family and friends and join us for a great summer night outside in Zion and Zion Canyon Brew Pub at 5 p.m on Friday. This is a free event.

“Vinyl Tap” Live at George’s Corner Restaurant and Pub
Downtown Farmer’s Market at Ancestor Square
One of the favorite Southern Utah Weekend Events, the Downtown Farmer’s Market, is open every Saturday at 8 a.m. to noon in Ancestor Square at 2 W. St. George Blvd. and will run through Oct. 29. The market features live music and an array of vendors. The Downtown Farmer’s Market is a nonprofit project dedicated to promoting the downtown area as well as organic gardening, homemade arts and crafts, and other goods. Dog Day Spectacular
Dog Day Spectacular is back again. This year’s Dog Day Spectacular includes a walk to help raise money for abused/neglected animals, a poker walk with the same goal, vendors, adoptable pets, and food! There will also be great fun for the kids like face painting, a bounce house and a climbing wall, an UPDOG challenge, demonstrations of FUNgility and an opportunity to run their own dog through the course. There is so much more. You have to come see for yourself! Your dog can be registered at becauseanimalsmatter.com for only $20. The event is free itself. Year-Round Farmer’s Market in Cedar City
Visit the only Year-Round Farmer’s Market in Utah, a real farmers market that sells only locally produced and grown fruit, vegetables, jam, bread, and other farm products.
