Southwest Applied Technology College recently received a $200,000 donation from the George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Foundation to the SWATC Foundation campaign, “Building Tomorrow’s Workforce Today.” The donation will help purchase vital classroom and lab equipment on the new Cedar City campus.

“Our Foundation is pleased to be able to join with others in support of SWATC’s new Allied Health and Technology Building,” said Lisa Eccles, president and COO of the George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Foundation. “We share the college’s enthusiasm for the project, knowing what a tremendous difference it will make not only for students pursuing careers in a variety of fields but also for the economic vitality of the Cedar City area.”

“We are truly honored by this generous gift and appreciate that the George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Foundation thought so much of the college that they would choose to support our students in this way,” said Southwest Applied Technology College president Brennan M. Wood. “The funds raised by the SWATC Foundation are invaluable in providing our students with what they need to complete their education and then be prepared to enter the workforce.”

Construction is underway on the new Health Professions and Trades Building. When the building is completed in November, the college will expand its allied health professions, welding technology, industrial maintenance, and manufacturing programs, as well as add a completely new discipline of study in culinary arts.

Speaking on behalf of the SWATC Foundation, Neal Smith said he is confident the campaign will continue to attract community partners and significant donations. “These generous donations indicate the strong community support of our mission in the counties we serve.” Smith can be reached to discuss donation opportunities on behalf of the SWATC Foundation at (435) 327-1073 or [email protected].
