The Space Between Theatre Company continues its mission of creating dynamic, nontraditional theater as it presents John Logan’s “RED” at the DiFiore Center in St. George from May 19-29.
“RED” was the winner of seven 2010 Tony Awards, including the award for Best Play. “RED” investigates the relationships between artists and audiences, fathers and sons, servants and masters, and teachers and students and questions the nature of what art is and what it should be.
Red is set in 1958 as Mark Rothko, master abstract expressionist, has taken on the biggest commission in the history of modern art: to paint a series of murals for the famous Four Seasons Restaurant in New York. Standing in his downtown studio and staring at his work, he asks his newly acquired assistant, Ken, “What do you see?” Two years unfold as Rothko and Ken continue to work on what will be either his greatest accomplishment or his most profound failure as an artist.
A special guest artist lecture series will be offered before select shows. There is adult language. Tickets are $18 and $15 for students and seniors. Tickets and more information are available at TSBTC.org.
