The St. George Arts Commission is once again bringing arts leaders and advocates together for the annual Arts Summit, a one-day conference designed to spark collaboration, strengthen organizations, and celebrate the essential role of the arts in community life.
Set for Friday, August 29 at the Electric Theater Center in downtown St. George, the summit will feature a lineup of dynamic speakers, networking opportunities, and interactive sessions tailored for artists, arts administrators, and cultural organizations.
This year’s keynote speaker is Britannia Howe, an acclaimed stage director and teaching artist whose talk, “Create Anyway: Courage in the Act of Making,” promises to inspire attendees to embrace bold creativity in their work.
Participants can also choose from engaging sessions led by arts professionals across the state. Topics include:
- Budgets and Fundraising for Nonprofits with Derek Campbell
- Effective Advocacy: How to Craft Your Story with Annie DiMartino
- The Art of Engagement: Recruiting and Retaining Volunteers with Becky Smith
- The Art of Building Relationships with Jonathan Morrell
- The Art of Wellness: Reclaiming Joy Through Creativity with Anna Beck
- Building Better Boards with Natalie Petersen and Em Cebrowski
The day begins with registration and a welcome breakfast at 8 AM, followed by an arts “scramble” networking event, breakout sessions, and a special Excellence in Arts Awards Ceremony recognizing local leaders. A networking lunch will also be provided across the street at the Dixie Academy Ballroom at Town Square, giving attendees a chance to connect further while updating their professional headshots.
While the summit is required for organizations receiving RAP Tax grants, it is also open to anyone with an interest in arts leadership and advocacy. In addition to learning opportunities, local groups will be able to showcase their seasons and provide entertainment during the event, making it a true celebration of Southern Utah’s creative community.
