The weekend of January 15 will be dedicated to health in St. George, with the free Health and Wellness Expo taking place on Friday and the 34th St. George Half Marathon being held on Saturday, Jan. 16. The half marathon begins at 9 a.m. with a 5K race kicking off at 9:15 and a Move It! Kids’ events at 11 a.m. The entire community is invited to participate in a free Health and Wellness Expo at the Dixie Convention Center on Friday, Jan. 15 from noon to 9 p.m.; however, to take part in the St. George Half Marathon, participants must be registered by Wednesday, Jan. 13. Early registration for the event closes on Friday, Jan. 8, after which a $10 late fee will apply through Jan. 13 at noon. There won’t be any race-day registration for this event.
“This is Southern Utah’s longest running half marathon, attracting as many as 2,500 runners,” said Aaron Metler, race and special events coordinator for the St. George Recreation Department. “It is a spectacular race on paved city trails that wind along the Virgin River and take runners through the beautiful landscape of St. George. We always want to include even those who are not quite up to running a half marathon or, perhaps, are not runners. That is why we present the Health and Wellness Expo each year so that everyone in the community can gain valuable information about health and wellness trends and equipment.”
The event also features the Intermountain Race Management Roundtable, a race director’s conference to that brings race directors from all over the state.
