The energy is already building for the 49th St. George Marathon, with a full weekend of festivities leading to the 26.2-mile showcase on Saturday, October 4, at 7 AM. Nearly 8,000 runners from across the country and around the world will line up for Utah’s largest marathon, a point-to-point course known for speed, scenery, and a signature red rock finish at Vernon Worthen Park.

The 49th St. George Marathon runs October 4, 2025, at 7 AM, capping a weekend that includes the Marathon & Half Marathon Expo (Oct. 3, 11 AM–8 PM), a 5K at 5:30 PM, and the Fun Run Walk N’ Roll at 6:30 PM. “The St. George Marathon offers an unparalleled experience, showcasing the stunning landscapes of Southern Utah while challenging participants to achieve their personal best,” said Michelle Graves, Assistant Director of Parks and Community Services for the City of St. George. “We are thrilled to welcome runners from 47 states as well as 13 different countries… we are committed to making this not only a race but a celebration of St. George and the natural beauty that surrounds us.”

The weekend kicks off Friday, October 3, with the St. George Marathon & Half Marathon Expo from 11 AM to 8 PM at the Dixie Convention Center. Runners can pick up race packets, and more than 35 vendors will be on hand with gear, nutrition, and official souvenirs.

Also on Friday outside the convention center: the St. George 5K at 5:30 PM, followed by the Fun Run Walk N’ Roll at 6:30 PM—great options for families and athletes who want to join the celebration without taking on the full marathon.

On race morning, the community can jump in with the Mayor’s Walk at 7 AM. Led by Mayor Michele Randall, the one-mile route starts at the Washington County School District parking lot, heads east on Tabernacle, down Main Street, and crosses the marathon finish line at Vernon Worthen Park.

Spectators will find designated viewing areas along the route to cheer runners on, and the City of St. George has published event details, volunteer info, and traffic impacts online. For general information, visit the St. George Marathon website. To get involved behind the scenes, see the volunteer registration page, and for travel routes and closures, check the traffic impact guide.
