St. George Studio Shape Theory Ceramics Invites You to Begin (or Begin Again)

At Shape Theory Ceramics in St. George, even the most humble mug can be a vehicle for experimentation, connection, and daily creative practice.

After a stretch of time focused on sculpture, the studio’s founder has returned to functional wheel-thrown forms, finding new rhythm and ritual in the process. What began as a few Shape Theory class demonstrations has evolved into a full-on glaze-testing journey—inviting students and members to witness, participate in, and contribute to an evolving body of work rooted in curiosity and craft.

“Our studio is about attention, experimentation, and the slow joy of discovery,” says the team at Shape Theory. “We believe growth happens incrementally—and that the real reward of making is found in the process.”

Classes, Membership, and a Return to Joy

For more independent makers, studio memberships offer flexible access and a welcoming environment to deepen your practice. Members also gain access to special topic classes—starting this May with an inaugural Glaze Night Teach-Out on Thursday, May 29 from 6–9 PM, where participants will glaze, fire, and explore a new range of in-house studio glazes.
