St. George Tabernacle January 2025 Events Calendar
December 2024 — So far, over a dozen wonderful performances have occurred in the Historic St. George Tabernacle in December! As we near Christmas day, we invite you to join in celebrating the Savior’s birth during any (or all) of the remaining Tabernacle performances in 2025.
The following events are scheduled at the St. George Tabernacle for the month of January 2025. All events are free to the public. Beginning the last week of December, recordings of events can also be heard by dialing 435-677-6230 and depressing #3. If you wish to schedule an event in the St. George Tabernacle, contact Sister Pamela Nead, Southwest Historic Sites Mission, 206-437-2976.
January 2025 Tabernacle Events
Wednesday, January 1 – 12:00 p.m.: “Prayer Over the City,” a wonderful way to welcome in the new year! This 1-hour program features 16 area religious leaders from the St George Interfaith Council offering short, focused prayers. “St George Interfaith Choir” adds wonderful music to this patriotic and inspiring opportunity to enjoy community togetherness.
Monday, January 6 – 12:00 Noon: “The Legacy Lecture Series” will commence its 2025 season series with Kurt Ivie. Ivie was elected to the Washington City Council in 2019 and again in 2023. He serves on the Utah State Legislative Policy Water Working Board.
Friday, January 17 – 7:00 p.m.: “Bar None Wranglers” returns to perform well known traditional musical selections with an invitation for audience participation. Plan for a nostalgic evening of fun!
Saturday, January 18 – 7:00 p.m.: Come hear descendants’ testimonies in “Voices of the Restoration.” Speakers include: For Joseph Smith, Jr., Gracia Jones—2nd Great Granddaughter of Joseph and Emma Smith and David Joseph Denning—3rd Great Grandson of Joseph and Emma Smith. For Hyrum Smith, Joseph Fife—3rd Great Grandson. For Brigham Young, Luann Spiers—2nd Great Granddaughter (through Lucy Bigelow Young). For John Taylor, Joel Taylor—3rd Great Grandson. For Parley P. Pratt, Paul Gooch—3rd Great Grandson. For Thomas Callister, Thomas Callister—3rd Great Grandson.
Saturday, January 25 – 7:00 p.m.: “Second Chance Band” returns to delight with Bluegrass and Celtic music, featuring bluegrass songs such as Man of Constant Sorrow, Tennessee Waltz, Wayfaring Stranger, and Irish tunes Her Mantel so Green, Come Thou Fount, and May the Road Rise Up to Meet You. Musicians include Becky Loftus (violin), Ethan Deceuster (guitar), Nils Lingwall (accordion), and Beth Lingwall (flute, banjo and mandolin).
Sunday, January 26 – 7:00 p.m.: “David J. Ridges,” scholar and prolific LDS author, will present “The Doctrine and Covenants.” Enjoy messages and specific verses that address issues of daily life and which answer common questions about staying firmly on the covenant path. Plan to bring your scriptures!
Thursday, January 30 – 7:00 p.m.: Join the “AHS A cappella Choir,” a 75-voice mixed choral ensemble from American Fork, Utah’s American Heritage School (est. 1970), a Christian-oriented private school. The eclectic performance will include pieces by Dan Forrest, W. A. Mozart, Vaclovas Augustinas, Ralph Vaughan Williams, and the choir’s director, Rob Swenson.
