Stage Door Presents the Rock Epic, Rock of Ages
March 30th through April 15th, 2023 at the Electric Theater.
It’s the tail end of the big, bad 1980s in Hollywood, and the party has been raging hard. Aqua Net, Lycra, lace, and liquor flow freely at one of the Sunset Strip’s last legendary venues, a place where heartthrob Stacee Jaxx takes the stage and scantily clad groupies line up to turn their fantasies into reality. Amidst the madness, aspiring rock star (and resident toilet cleaner) Drew longs to take the stage as the next big thing (and longs for small-town girl Sherrie, fresh off the bus from Kansas with stars in her eyes). But the rock ‘n’ roll fairy tale is about to end when German developers sweep into town with plans to turn the fabled Strip into just another capitalist strip mall. Can Drew, Sherri and the gang save the strip – and themselves – before it’s too late? Only the music of hit bands Styx, Journey, Bon Jovi, Whitesnake and more hold the answer.
This spring is going to be nothing but a good time. The Stage Door is proud to present the rock epic, Rock of Ages. Prepare yourself to be transported back to a simpler time, a time of big bangs, and even bigger rock anthems. Under the direction of our board member, Venny Carranza, this production is sure to please. When paired with the musical talents of Amy Gleave, the production design of Joshua Scott, the costumes of Tonya Christensen, and the organizational prowess of Kristen McPhie, you get a team that wants to rock.
Our team is joined by an epic all star cast of local talent. Eric Humphries and Juliet Lorentzen, lead the cast as Drew and Sherrie, respectively. Michael Iorg hilariously narrates the production as Lonny. Josh Scott and Jeremy Posten share the role of club owner Dennis. Dan Fowlks rocks the stage as Stacee Jaxx. Stefenie Frisbie tends to the cast as Justice. Dean Jones and Coy Shinn are the comical German father son duo trying to take over the strip, as Christine France leads the fight against them. They are joined by a powerful ensemble with Ashlie Davenport, Parker Jenson, Marlie Nebeker, Gig Jones, & Tysen Chanticleer.
The show runs from March 30th until April 15th with shows on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 PM. In addition, there will be two matinee shows on April 1st and 8th at 2 PM. Tickets are on sale now at thestagedoortheater.com.
