St. George’s own local celebrity and co-founding member of Southern Utah Song Writers Association, Sam Payne, has been invited by SUSWA to lead this month’s Song Writing Workshop on Friday, Aug. 28, at 8 p.m. at Spiral Studios, located at 879 E. Tabernacle in St. George. This workshop is certain to be an enjoyable evening of music, entertainment, and instruction from one of the biggest talents around this fine state. So come one, come all, and revel in the atmosphere of an incredible recording studio under the tutelage of a master tunesmith and songwriting craftsman.
Sam Payne’s arresting stage presence and soaring tenor voice have established him as favorite with audiences and critics alike. Payne has brought his stories and songs to international halls in Canada, Bulgaria, and Tokyo, and from coast to coast in the United States. He’s been featured at festivals both large and small, including the Timpanogos Storytelling Festival and the Weber Storytelling Festival. Sam also hosts “The Apple Seed: Tellers and Stories,” a daily national radio show on the art of storytelling for BYU radio.
The SUSWA Song Writing Workshop is open to the general public, and the cost is $10, However, for the best value, we recommend that you consider joining SUSWA, as these song writing workshops are free for all members. Single membership is $25 and family membership $40. SUSWA memberships last for one year and generally includes six to eight similar events and musical performances. It also lets you be a part of helping to further the arts and entertainment of this beautiful place we call home.
