SUU presents Abendmusik: A Music Adjunct Faculty Recital
By Ashley H Pollock
The adjunct faculty for Southern Utah University’s music department gather once again to share their talents with the community and students in Cedar City. Abendmusik: A Music Adjunct Faculty Recital will be held Feb. 11 at 7:30 p.m. in the Southern Utah Museum of Art on SUU’s campus. This concert is free and open to the public.
“The SUU music department is excited to offer our third annual Abendmusik recital featuring our talented adjunct faculty,” said Dr. Lawrence Johnson, music department chair. “It’s always a pleasure to hear them perform, and this year they will be presenting quite a variety of vocal and instrumental music, from Bach to Schubert to Puccini to Bernstein. So we hope you’ll attend this year’s concert and support our esteemed adjunct faculty as they share their gift of music!”
Due to the large student population, there are not enough full-time faculty to serve the growing department. The music adjunct faculty come from many different musical backgrounds and provide a variety of expertise, giving students the opportunity to flourish in their desired area of study.
“We have some wonderfully talented adjunct faculty members who will share music that is both moving and inspiring,” said Dr. Keith Bradshaw, associate dean of the SUU College of Performing and Visual Arts. “They contribute so much to the music department and the community. I’m looking forward to Abendmusik and enjoying the musical offering of our faculty.”
