SUU art and design faculty members will be both celebrated and showcased in the upcoming annual Art and Design Faculty Exhibition. The show opens at the Braithwaite Fine Arts Gallery on Thursday, Jan. 7, at 7 p.m. and runs until Saturday, Feb. 6. The exhibition is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from noon to 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
The SUU Art and Design Faculty Exhibition turns the spotlight on the faculty and their diverse media. Patrons will experience photography, painting, ceramics, drawing, graphic design, sculpture, quilt art, watercolors, and more. This year’s exhibition features art and design by full-time faculty members Eric Brown, Samuel Davis, Rheana Gardner, Jessica Gerlach, YiDan Guo, Jeffrey Hanson, Susan Harris, Brian Hoover, Andrew Marvick, Jay Merryweather, Deborah K. Snider, JungYun Son, Benjamin Sowards, Hala Swearingen, and Russell Wrankle. The show also features works by adjunct faculty members Randall Cabe, Elayna Clegg, Glen Lyman, Birgit McMullen, April McPherson, and Steven Swift.
“Outstanding!” said Jeffrey Hanson, chair of SUU’s Department of Art and Design and associate professor of graphic design, when referring to the SUU Art and Design Faculty Exhibition. “This annual showcase exhibits pieces from a group whose work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and is of the highest caliber. This year’s offerings will impress attendees with unrivaled creativity and excellent technique. You won’t see finer work in southern Utah this year.”
