The SUU Ballroom Dance Company presents its fall concert, “Dance with Me,” on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 20 and 21, in SUU’s Auditorium Theatre. Featuring over 50 members of the company’s touring, intermediate and beginning performance ensembles, “Dance with Me” showcases the dancers performing such classics as the mambo, Viennese waltz, paso doble, foxtrot, Argentine tango, quickstep, samba, and more.
These dynamic pieces have been created by director Beth Field, as well as a roster of SUU alumni and current students, including Dustin Liechty, Chandler Hall, Andrea Johnson, Ariel Peterson, Alex Taylor, Alycia Taylor and Kim Thornley.
The dances at the SUU Ballroom Dance Company production of “Dance With Me” will be performed to a vibrant and diverse array of music ranging from such classics as Elton John’s “Crocodile Rock,” Olly Murs’ “Dance with Me Tonight,” and Mambo Legends Orchestra’s “Canela Bella,” and all pieces are accentuated by spectacular costumes, bold lighting, and high energy.
Under the direction of Field, the SUU Ballroom Dance Company puts on several campus and community events annually, including fall and spring concerts and the very popular “Dancing with the Stars.” In addition, the company reaches out to the surrounding community frequently by performing for local organizations.
The SUU Ballroom Company “Dance With Me” performance begins at 7:30 p.m., and tickets are $10 and $6 for SUU students. Tickets can be purchased at the Auditorium Theatre the night of the performance or in advance from a Ballroom Dance Company member.
