On Tuesday, Dec. 8, Southern Utah University’s “A Christmas Benefit Concert,” a festive and family-friendly variety show, will feature a cast of over 20 actors and singers from SUU and the Cedar City community performing an array of seasonal songs, stories, and sketches. The performance will take place at SUU’s Randall L. Jones Theatre and begins at 7 p.m.
This special one-night-only performance is a fundraiser, with proceeds going toward sending SUU graduating theater BFA students to the Mountain West Showcase in New York City where they will perform for casting directors as well as attend workshops and auditions.
Featuring Melinda Pfundstein Vaughn as emcee, “A Christmas Benefit Concert” highlights several community groups, including the Iron Springs Elementary Choir led by Cassie Walker and the Canyon View High musical theater class directed by Holly Barrick. The performance also features students in the SUU theater program who have entertained audiences in past productions of “Fiddler on the Roof,” “Chicago,” “Next to Normal,” “Hamlet,” “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” “Dancing at Lughnasa,” and many more.
The ensemble for the Christmas Benefit Concert includes Evangeline Stott, Alec TerBerg, Brandon Grayson, Keaton Johns, Henry Ballesteros, Madison Ford, Joshua Durfey, Kaitlyn Curry, Joshua Leigh Hopkins, Selena Price, Luke S Johnson, Brittany Reed, Christopher Whiteside, Bailey Smith, Hannah MacKenzie Fontes, Courtney McMullin, Tammi Columbo, Jordyn Cardwell, Holly Barrick, Samantha Allred, Amber James, and Christine Casper.
