Southern Utah University’s music department will present a concert titled “We Make Joy” Dec. 7 at 7:30 p.m. in the Heritage Center Theater in Cedar City.

“This is the music department’s annual December celebration of sounds of the season!” said Dr. Krystal McCoy, director of choral activities. “My favorite aspect of this event is that all students involved in the music department make music together in a combined concert. It will include large ensembles, small ensembles, seasonal readings, and even an audience singalong!”

“When the SUU music department comes together in a large collaboration, it’s always a very special event,” said Dr. Lawrence Johnson, chair of the music department at SUU. “The ‘Make We Joy’ concert will be a festive celebration of the season and will showcase many of SUU’s music ensembles. You won’t want to miss it!”

“The coming together of the full department for this holiday celebration has been a tradition now since 2013,” said Dr. Adam Lambert, director of bands. “It’s been a great way to bring all the students and faculty of the SUU music department together for one grand performance. I look forward to it every year. And this year looks like it’s going to be epic! The wind symphony will perform ‘Russian Christmas Music’ and, along with the symphony orchestra, John Williams ‘Sound the Bells!’”

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for youth. SUU faculty, staff, and students are free with a valid ID card. Faculty and staff IDs are allowed one guest. Tickets can be purchased at the door the night of the concert or online at suu.edu/pva.
