The Southern Utah University Department of Music opens its concert season with America 25: America in Sound—250 Years of Freedom, an inspiring musical tribute celebrating the nation’s upcoming Semiquincentennial. The SUU Wind Symphony, under the direction of Dr. Adam Lambert, will perform on Friday, November 8, at 7:30 PM in the Heritage Center Theater, 105 N. 100 E. in Cedar City.
Audiences can expect a dynamic evening of music that honors the spirit, resilience, and creativity of the American people. The program features works by some of the nation’s most influential composers, including George Gershwin, Leonard Bernstein, and Aaron Copland—each known for defining the sound of America through their distinctive voices and groundbreaking compositions.

From Gershwin’s rhythmic sophistication to Bernstein’s jazz-inspired brilliance and Copland’s sweeping Americana, the concert promises a rich and emotional journey through 250 years of musical expression.
America 25: America in Sound is part of the America 250 initiative, a nationwide celebration of the country’s 250th anniversary. Through this concert, SUU joins cultural institutions across the nation in commemorating the ideals of freedom, unity, and artistic innovation that continue to shape the American experience.
The performance is part of SUU’s Music Masterworks Series, which highlights the talent and dedication of more than 300 music students and esteemed faculty members throughout the academic year. The upcoming Masterworks season also includes:

Tickets are available at the Heritage Center Theater box office or online. Prices are $10 for adults, $8 for alumni, $5 for youth and non-SUU students, and free for SUU students, faculty, and staff with valid ID.
