Tap Into Your Creativity For The St. George Art Museum

Have you ever wondered where the unique bowls used at the Soup N’ Bowl fundraiser come from?
Individuals of all ceramic proficiency levels are invited to craft bowls at the annual Community Pot Throw on January 26 at the St. George Recreation Center (285 S 400 E). There are two sessions: 11 AM – 2 PM and 3 PM – 6 PM. It is free to participate; no registration is required. All throwing equipment and materials will be provided, and trained professionals will be on hand for assistance.
“The community pot throw is a great activity for people of all ages and skill levels. Just show up, sign in, and prepare to engage your creative senses,” said Michelle Graves, Assistant Parks and Community Services Director. “If you are new to ceramics, this is a great opportunity to learn how to throw a pot under the guidance of an experienced potter. For those who are already rather familiar with clay, we look forward to your creation that will help support the St. George Art Museum.”
The bowls created at the Community Pot Throw will be donated to the Soup N’ Bowl fundraiser, set for March 1 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the St. George Art Museum. This annual fundraiser, which began in 1995, generates support for the Art Museum’s permanent collection.
“You can donate your bowls to the event or earmark them to choose yourself at the Soup N’ Bowl,” Graves added. “It’s a great experience for a group of people as well as individuals. By participating, you are directly benefiting the art community of St. George. The price of the Soup N Bowl event is $20 and that includes a clay bowl, a full lunch and great live music!”

About the St. George Art Museum
Located at 47 East 200 North in historic downtown St. George, the former sugar beet seed storage facility was transformed into an elegant showcase for art in 1997. The museum is part of a beautiful arts complex, which also includes the Opera House and Social Hall. With over 1,400 pieces in the permanent collection, the St. George Art Museum is open Tuesday-Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The museum is donation-based. Donations directly support education and operating expenses of the museum.
