In August 1997, Terry and Lucy Griffiths opened Terry’s at 65 E State Street in Orderville, Utah—a dream realized after years of research, visits to other small-town grocery stores, and two full years of demolition and construction. Built on the site of a former motel, the store began as a family-run operation with a surprisingly large inventory for such a remote location. Shoppers could find everything from fresh produce and meats to candy, canned goods, and cleaning supplies.

Locals and tourists alike often described it as “a small store with a surprisingly large inventory in the middle of nowhere.” But Terry’s didn’t stop at groceries. Over time, a full hardware store was built directly onto the back of the original building, transforming the business into a true one-stop shop. Today, it offers everything from plumbing, electrical, and gardening supplies to toys, camping gear, lumber, key making, and much more.

For over 27 years, Terry and Lucy were a constant presence, taking only a handful of days off while helping grow the business into a vital hub for the community. Their kindness and commitment left a lasting impression on all who walked through the doors.

At the beginning of 2025, the couple passed the torch to their daughter Sally and her husband Luke Stevens. Now at the helm, Sally and Luke are proud to carry on the family legacy, continuing to offer the same helpful service and broad selection that Terry’s has become known for.

Still serving up that famous ice, nostalgic bagged candy, and an unbeatable mix of goods, Terry’s Food & Hardware remains an essential stop for locals and a delightful surprise for visitors.

Open Monday through Saturday from 8 AM to 9 PM. Learn more on our website.
