Independent Bookstore Day Celebrates Its 12th Anniversary
The annual Indie Bookstore Event will be celebrated on April 26, 2025.
The Book Bungalow announces our participation in the 12th Anniversary of Independent Bookstore Day!
They will have over 20 exclusive items for sale and giveaways, from specialized tote bags to hats and exclusive books. Every non-exclusive item in the store will be available for 20% off!
On that day, they will host:
- A book launch for a picture book (“Finnegan Flynt and the Value of Pi”) by local school librarian, Polly Bringhurst, on the back patio from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with treats, games, and giveaways
- A special Story Time in the Children’s Room at 2 p.m. with giveaways
- An author signing by Sara Flannery Murphy of her latest suspense, “The Possessions,” on the front porch from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Also, the store will again participate in a state-wide bookstore crawl, kicking off on Independent Bookstore Day. “The Utah Indie Bookshop Crawl” will be a totally analog, totally magical challenge to visit select independent bookstores in Utah between April 2025 and April 2026.
Whether you’re a casual reader or a literary road warrior, this is your chance to explore Utah’s incredible indie book scene like never before. So, stop into the store this next week to learn more and be able to download the map showing all the featured stores. There will be prizes for all who show by their fully stamped map that they have completed the challenge and visited every featured bookstore within a year.
“Independent Bookstore Day is one of our favorite days,” said Book Bungalow Owner, Tanya Mills. “Not only do we try to celebrate the bookseller and the book buyer, but we make a real effort to celebrate writers, too. They’re the ones who create all these books we love to read and then sell. This will be our seventh celebration as a store, and we look forward to many more.”
Independent Bookstore Day (Indie Bookstore Day) was established in 2013 to promote, celebrate, and highlight the value of the independent bookstore community. It has been observed on the last Saturday of April every year since 2013. This year, over 1,200 stores are participating across the country.
Independent Bookstore Day is organized by the American Booksellers Association, a national not-for-profit trade organization that works with booksellers and industry partners to ensure the success and profitability of independently owned book retailers and to assist in expanding the community of the book.

The Book Bungalow enjoyed its grand opening at the corner of Tabernacle Street and 100 West in downtown St. George on October 19, 2018. As a general interest bookstore selling all new books, it strives to be the literary soul of the growing St. George metro area.
