The Space Between Theatre Company’s spring 2015 production of Romeo and Juliet will come to life at the Roene B. DiFiore Center For Arts and Education in downtown St. George on Thursday, April 30 and will run select days through May 9. The DiFiore Center, housed in the historic home of Orville and Ruth Hafen, will itself become a feature in the show. The Space Between plans to insert elements of environmental theatre into the production. Audience members should expect to move throughout the surrounding gardens and yards as action and scenes unfold at different locations on the premises.

This classic tragedy tells the story of the legendary star-crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet, and their warring families, the Capulets and the Montagues. Through Shakespeare’s poetry, audiences will question what forces in life can overcome hatred and whether people can reconcile their differences before fate does it for them. With this production, The Space Between Theatre Company plans to further involve the Washington County community by engaging in post-show discussions following each night’s show. These sessions will allow the artists and audience to converse with one another and share their thoughts, feelings, and experiences about the production as a whole. Lively discussions will be had, thoughts and voices will fill the air, and passions will be displayed.

The Space Between (TSB), the parent entity of the theatrical group, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational and artistic corporation. The theatre company is TSB’s first undertaking as a means of meeting both artistic and educational goals. TSB’s intention is to create dynamic programs whose vision surpasses traditional theatre. Past, present, and future projects include plays, staged readings, workshops, chamber theatre, film events, “Interface” events (partnering with other performing arts organizations), and a stage for the work of new playwrights, poets, and film scriptwriters. TSB invites members of the community to join them. There is a role to be played for all who would like to participate, be it in front of the footlights, behind the scenes, or as a lively member of the audience.

These shows are not suitable for patrons under the age of 14. Please note that due to the small, intimate space being used, as well as the unique, traveling structure of the production, each audience will be limited to 20 people. As tickets may be sold out prior to a particular showing, they may not be available for last-minute purchase.

Show times are April 30 through May 2 at 7:30 p.m., May 3 at 5 p.m., and May 7 through May 9 at 7:30 p.m. Pre-sale ticket prices are $12 for adults and $10 for students (with ID). Online ticket prices are $15 for adults and $12 for students (with ID).
