Third annual Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association Poker Run raises funds for nonprofits
By Charles Triplett
The third annual Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association Poker Run will depart from and return to Cedar City to raise money for veteran causes. This year, the event will be May 19 starting at the Cedar City Veterans Park at 200 N 200 E in Cedar City. Registration will be held from noon to 2 p.m. at the park. All proceeds will benefit Utah Honor Flight and Ride To Zero programs, both of which are 501(c) nonprofit organizations.
The chapter is made up of combat veterans from all branches of the military who ride motorcycles as a hobby. The mission of this national organization is “Vets Helping Vets.”
The poker run is about 100 miles through desert and high mountain passes over Cedar Mountain, making several stops along the way and ending at Mike’s Tavern at 90 W. Hoover St. in Cedar City. The best hand will get $250 with the worst hand getting $100.
There will also be a concert from 9 p.m. until midnight at Mike’s Tavern, featuring Cedar City bands Fenwick Way and Full Tilt Boogie, with drawings and the poker run winners being announced. If you wish to donate or you have question about this event, please call (435) 590-7525 or email utahcvma4@gmail.com. More information is available at utahcvma4.com.
