Tonaquint Nature Center's Fall Festival features pumpkin-decorating contestThe Tonaquint Nature Center’s Fall Festival and Pumpkin Alley Monday will be held Oct. 28 from 5 to 7 p.m. Admission is free. The only costs associated with the event are Halloween-themed crafts, which are $1 each to make, and making a bag of “monster boogers” out of popcorn for 25 cents.

There will be new carnival games such as Eyeball Squirt, Witches Brew Toss, Swampy River Run, and more. Kids can have their fortunes told to them by Zelda the fortune teller. They can investigate at Dr. Jekyll’s Halloween mad laboratory, participate in the scavenger hunt on the trails around the nature center, and make Halloween theme crafts. The Black Cat face painting and tattoo parlor will be staffed by the Heritage Hair Academy, which will be busy with free face painting and tattoos throughout the event.

At 6:30 p.m., prizes will be given out to the top pumpkin decorators in the pumpkin alley contest. Decorated pumpkins, carved or uncarved, must be submitted before 6:30 p.m. A pumpkin submission must be created by the individual submitting the pumpkin. Prizes will be awarded to the two best decorators in each of the age categories.

In additional to the festival at the Nature Center, the Washington County Water Conservancy District will be host its Fall Garden Fair in the garden section of the park from 4 to 7 pm.

More information about the event’s activities is available at sgcityrec.org or by calling (435) 627-4560. The Tonaquint Nature Center is located at Tonaquint Park at 1851 S. Dixie Dr. in St. George.
