Following a winter of record snowfall and devastation in the Andes Mountains, the Heart Walk Foundation will deliver supplies in May 2014 and help build greenhouse gardens for the Q’ero people of Peru.
On Dec. 10, join with Benja and “Heart of the Andes” filmmaker Melynda Thorpe Burt at a special fundraising dinner, where all proceeds will go toward assisting the Heart Walk Foundation greenhouse project. Enjoy a screening of the film “Heart of the Andes” and an exclusive menu designed by sushi chef Alex Peterson for this event. The cost to attend is $20 per person and $10 for children 12 and younger.
“Our goal is to fund an entire greenhouse for the mountain people in Peru,” said Alex Peterson, sushi chef and manager at Benja’s Thai Garden. “We are excited to support a cause with local roots that is helping make a long-lasting difference for people in another part of the world.”
Filmed on location in Peru in 2012, “Heart of the Andes” tells the story of the international humanitarian organization Heart Walk Foundation, which is based in southern Utah. Cofounders Tim and Penelope Eicher (Tim is a DSU professor and Penelope a mental health therapist) learned of the plight of the Q’ero Tribes living high in the Andes Mountains while they were traveling in Peru 10 years ago.
This event takes place Dec. 10 at 6:30 p.m. Benja’s Thai Garden is located at 435 N. 1680 East #14 in St. George. To purchase tickets or for more information, call (435) 674-2846.
