Many local nonprofits face fundraising challenges, and one part of these difficulties comes from having to solicit new donations versus being able to approach previous donors. In response to this commonly faced situation, the Utah Nonprofits Association January workshop, presented by Bloomerang, will be “What Every Fundraiser Can Do To Stop Falling Donor Retention Rates.” The workshop will take place on Jan. 7 from 8 a.m. to noon at Dixie Applied Technology College, located at 1506 South Silicon Way, Building C-2, in St. George.
This Utah Nonprofits Association January workshop will focus on donor recruitment, retention, and management and explore the Fundraising Effectiveness Project report commissioned by the Association of Fundraising Professionals and the Urban Project. The news in this report can and should be an eye opener for every nonprofit engaged in fundraising.
The workshop will focus on the root causes of poor retention rates and offer tips for improvement based on the principles of Dr. Adrian Sargeant and Tom Ahern, two authorities on building donor loyalty. Sargeant and Ahern’s principles are based upon years of research conducted in the sector and can be used by any organization, from a one-person organization to a large department. During the workshop, Mitch Peterson will lead discussions and provide examples of these principles in action.
Participants at the Utah Nonprofits Association January workshop will:
–Be familiar with current research on donor retention and how an increase or decrease can impact their bottom line.
–Understand how to calculate their donor retention rate.
–Learn new donor communication techniques in order to improve donor loyalty and retention.
Doors open at 7:45 for registration and check-in. The workshop costs $50 and $30 for UNA and St. George Chamber of Commerce members. A light continental breakfast will be served. Enroll online at utahnonprofits.org or contact Dawn McLain at dawn@writeituponline.com or (702) 860-2341.
