Two of Cedar City’s most recognized institutions—the Larry H. Miller Utah Summer Games and Intermountain Health Cedar City Hospital—are joining forces once again to support health, community engagement, and youth athletics during the 2025 Summer Games.
The collaboration will provide medical support throughout the multi-week Olympic-style festival, while also expanding community outreach efforts in Southern Utah. This year’s Summer Games, hosted by Southern Utah University, will mark the 40th annual celebration of one of Utah’s largest amateur sporting events.
“Both the Utah Summer Games and Cedar City Hospital are vital parts of the engine driving Cedar City and Iron County forward,” said Jon Oglesby, Executive Director of the Games. “We’re excited to work with them in improving the quality of life in our community.”
Jamison Robinett, President and CEO of Cedar City Hospital, echoed that enthusiasm. “This is an incredible event that promotes active, healthy living and brings together so many of our caregivers and community members,” he said. “It’s a perfect alignment of mission and values—community, well-being, and teamwork.”
With over 9,600 athletes expected to compete in 2025 and tens of thousands of spectators, the partnership with Intermountain ensures not just safety, but a deeper connection to the health and vitality of the region. The partnership also highlights the Games’ commitment to fostering a culture of care and inclusion—on and off the field.
Founded in 1986, the Utah Summer Games is the official state game of Utah, drawing athletes from across the region to Cedar City to compete in a wide array of sports. In addition to this year’s milestone event, the Games are slated to host the State Games of America in Salt Lake City in 2030.
