Picnic offers a captivating look at how lives are transformed in just 24 hours by the arrival of a mysterious young drifter.
On a hot Labor Day morning, the women of a modest neighborhood prepare for the annual picnic. Flo Owens dreams that her daughter Madge will receive a proposal from Alan, the son of a wealthy family. Meanwhile, Millie, the younger daughter, longs to escape small-town life.
This seemingly tranquil environment is upended when Hal Carter, a charming and rugged drifter jumps off a freight train and into their lives. In the span of one day, passions awaken, hearts are broken, and the quiet community is forever changed. Picnic delves into themes of love, sexuality, repression, and the quest for personal freedom, inviting audiences to reflect on the choices that shape their lives.
