Loved ones, caregivers, and supporters of Utahns living with Alzheimer’s disease will gather on Saturday, Oct. 25, for the St. George Walk to End Alzheimer’s—one of seven Alzheimer’s Association of Utah Walks taking place statewide this year.

The annual walk raises funds to provide essential services for families and to support research aimed at finding a cure. The St. George Walk has a fundraising goal of $36,500, contributing to a statewide total target of $570,000 across all Utah walks.

“The toll from Alzheimer’s disease is rising relentlessly and will continue to do so until we find a cure,” said Stacie Kulp, Executive Director of the Alzheimer’s Association of Utah. “Every dollar we can raise for research is an investment in our health and that of future generations.”

Currently, more than 7.4 million Americans, including 38,300 Utahns, are living with Alzheimer’s—the sixth-leading cause of death in the United States and the only one among the top ten without a known prevention or cure.

Funds raised through the walk enable the Alzheimer’s Association of Utah to continue offering information, programs, and services at no cost to individuals with Alzheimer’s and their caregivers. In addition, proceeds help fund research: the Alzheimer’s Association is the world’s leading nonprofit funder of Alzheimer’s research, currently supporting 1,200 projects with over $450 million in 56 countries across six continents.

National sponsors include Edward Jones, Biogen, Salesforce, and Eisai.
Local sponsors for the St. George Walk include Ovation Sienna Hills, Seniors Blue Book, Sterling Court Assisted Living Community, The Retreat at SunRiver & Sunbrook, Legacy Retirement Communities, Humana, and Two Men and a Truck.
