High-alpine meadows are bursting with color as Cedar Breaks National Monument invites visitors to its annual Wildflower Festival, happening July 4 through July 12. The festival is a vibrant celebration of native flora, creativity, and the remarkable ecosystem of the Colorado Plateau’s high country.

From guided wildflower walks to an all-ages art contest, this event offers something for every nature lover, artist, and curious mind.

Ranger-Led Wildflower Walks

Join a park ranger for a scenic stroll through meadows filled with blooming wildflowers. Each walk is guided by a ranger’s unique perspective—whether focusing on pollinators, adaptations, or survival in extreme environments.

  • When: Daily at 10 AM and 1:30 PM
  • Where: Trailhead varies—check in at the Visitor Center
  • Length: Usually under 1 mile
  • No reservations needed.

Ranger Talks at Point Supreme

For those who prefer to stay in place, attend one of the daily short talks at Point Supreme Overlook. Learn about the role of wildflowers in the broader ecosystem and the powerful stories hidden within these small yet mighty blooms.

  • When: Daily at 10 AM and 2 PM
  • Where: Point Supreme Overlook

“Blooms of the Breaks” Art Contest

Let your creativity bloom! Cedar Breaks invites artists of all ages and disciplines to submit original artwork inspired by the park’s wildflower displays. Paintings, drawings, photographs, and sculptures are all welcome.

  • Submission Dates: July 1–31
  • Email entries to: cebrinfo@nps.gov
  • Subject line: “Wildflower Art Contest 2025”

Categories:

  • Youth (12 and under)
  • General Public (13 and up)

Prizes:
Winning entries will be featured on Cedar Breaks’ social media, and one standout piece will become the official poster art for next year’s festival. All winning artists will be credited and must sign a photo release. Entries must be original, unpublished, and not AI-generated. Minor photo edits are acceptable with disclosure.

Interactive Booths & Special Guests

Stop by the Visitor Center Plaza at Point Supreme during the festival to engage with naturalists, educators, and park partners through interactive displays and hands-on activities that bring the landscape to life.
