On Sunday, April 19, the St. George Wine Club had their monthly social at the DiFiore Center. Approximately 150 people showed up with bottles of wine and plates of hors d’oeuvres. The doors of the DiFiore Center were open so that guests could walk through the building and enjoy all the art, but the social was held on the DiFiore grounds outside. The weather could not have been better for wine lovers looking to socialize with other oenophiles. The sun was shining, a slight breeze played through the trees, and the shade was cool and refreshing.
Beyond the wine, food, and friends that drew people to the event, music was provided by local band The Idles while guests lounged in the Sunday afternoon warmth. Guests were even treated to a dance ensemble preview of “Art in the Garden: Everyone has a Story” performed by dancers from the St. George Dance Company. It was an afternoon straight out of a classic novel.
However, the Sunday event—and typically all wine club events—are about more than the taste of wine; they are about giving back to the community. The membership fees of the wine club, while paying for wine, entertainment, and necessities, also go toward charity purposes. The St. George Wine Club raised $750 at the Sunday social and will be giving a check to the DiFiore non-profit organization to help fund their arts education programs. According to Marianne Hamilton, President of the Wine Club, they were also able to purchase patio heaters so that the DiFiore Center could have outdoor evening events.
If you enjoy the arts, entertainment, and putting your dollars toward a good cause all while enjoying a good glass of wine, consider joining the St. George Wine Club.
